(( First Landfall Valley, Streamstop ))
As the warm, almost summer-like mountain air blew past Mei’konda, ruffling both his fur and the slightly heavier duty survey uniform he was wearing, the Caitian let his eyes wander through the gathered officers who’d come down below to explore the surface. The planet had been deemed safe an hour ago, and a good portion of the Astraeus’ off-duty crew was on the surface now. Mei’konda, and most of the senior staff, were among them.
Sure, they could learn almost everything via scans. But this was the whole reason they were out here in the first place. Only a few Federation starships had ever been further from home, and most of the time, those were because of accidents that were beyond their control.
With the Type-11 Shuttle Gibbs parked near the base of a mountain several hundred meters away, the survey teams had found this place, at the edge of a serene lake, as a good place to start shore leave. Mei’konda glanced over toward the man who’d flown the shuttle down, Lieutenant Smith. He offered the part-Denobulan a slight smile.
Mei’konda: You flew well, Lieutenant. I’m surpiised Admiral Reynolds was willing to give you up.
Smith: Response
Still wearing his mischievous smile, the feline man continued.
Mei’konda: Well, I will be maaking as much use of your skills as I can, now that you’re slumming it with us on the Astraeus.
Smith: Response
Mei’konda looked amongst the gathered officers, cleared his throat, and spoke up as white clouds drifted past in the purple skies, overhead.
Mei’konda: Welcome to Streamstop, everyone. Thaank you for coming down here wiith me. I thought it appropriaate to do this on the surface, rather than on board. We maay not have many chances to do so on a world like this, after all, and the Pagrati Lounge will always be there.

Mei’konda glanced down at a PADD he’d brought with him, containing a series of messages from the Federation. He held it upward.
Mei’konda: This morniing, I received word that the majority of the Bajorans that we rescued from the Son’a outpost are doing well. They have been reuniited with their families on Bajor or elsewhere. Starfleet is in the process of applying sanctions to the Son’a, since it seems they didn’t leaarn their lesson after the incident in the Briar Patch. Let’s hope it taakes, this time.

Mei’konda: Because of your haard work, Starfleet has approved several awaards, and I’m happy to get to award them to you here. First, due to the naature of our mission, every one of you who paarticipated is being award the Peacekeeper Service Ribbon. Good work, everyone. That’s a biig part of what Staarfleet is all about.

Mei’konda: Now then - would Commander Riley, Lieutenants Shin and Delri’ise, as well as Ensign Wrader join me here?
As the four officers approached, Mei’konda pulled four small boxes from his jacket, and opened them up, one at a time.
Mei’konda: I’m proud to award the four of you the Good Conduct Ribbon, for your braave actions in rescuing the Bajoran prisoners from the surface of that planetoid and defendiing the Astraeus and our planetbound shuttle when they came under attack. There are people aliive today who would not be if not for your efforts. Good work, everyone.
Mei’knoda pinned the ribbon on each of their uniforms, one at a time, then stepped back and shifted his attention over toward one of his new tactical officers.
Mei’konda: Lieutenant Delri’ise, your targetiing information was essential during our conflict with the Son’a. Due to your creatiive solutions in a difficult situation, I’m awardiing you the Innovation Ribbon. Congratulations, Lieutenant.
Delri’ise: Response
Mei’konda: Finally… Doctor Solok, Commander Riley, and Lieutenant Hamasaki. Please join me here.
Solok / Riley / Hamasaki: Responses
Mei’konda: As you all know, many lives were at stake that day. You all played a part in ensuriing that the Bajoran prisoners were able to make it home. For that, I’m proud to award all of you the Lifesaving Ribbon. Thank you all for your service.
Solok / Riley / Hamasaki: Responses
Mei’konda: And finally - if Lieutenant Hamasaki and Doctor Solok would stay up here with me, there’s just one more thing. Mr. Hamasaki, I’ve heard a very interestiing story about an overloadiing phaser down on the surface of the planetoid.
Hamasaki: Response
Mei’konda: Mmmmhm. I wish it had not been necessary, and it’s why, Lieutenant Shin, I would like the security depaartment to begin exploring the regular deployment of non-lethal area effect weapons on our shuttles. But you may have saved the entiire crew of your shuttle, Lieutenant. And for that, I’m awarding you the Silver Star.
Mei’konda carefully pinned the small medal to Hamasaki’s jacket, inclined his head toward her, then took a step back.

Mei’konda: And finally, Doctor Solok. With the efforts of you and your staff, the Bajorans we rescued were in a much better state even by the time we reached Bajor. For that, I’m awarding you the Trauma Support Advocate ribbon. Thank you, Doctor.
Solok: Response
Awards distributed, Mei’konda folded his arms behind his back, straightened up, and offered a smile to the gathered officers.
Mei’konda: With that, you’re all dismissed. Please, enjoy the weather.
