You're a creator, an artist, a maker, a hacker. And maybe you want to meet other interesting weirdos who are as excited as you are about creating things.  Good!  I really hope you can join us this time.

Early UBEW Programmers
During the 1930s, while work was hard to find, UBEW members looked after each other, forming bonds of friendship and trust that held them tightly during the lean war-years and the relatively prosperity of the 50s.  During World War II, UBEW members helped with the war effort, working at Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire, England designing computational machines used to decrypt Axis communications.  More>>
Come help celebrate with the local chapter of this venerable organization.  We'll celebrate and drink a toast (or two or three) to history and to geekery.

UBEW Meet & Geek
May 30th, the Last Thursday of every month
From 7:30pm to whenever

Crepe Place, 1134 Soquel Avenue  Santa Cruz

This is our monthly, open meeting for tech-minded people who have an interest in software and hardware projects that benefit the community. We'll share ideas, help each other with projects, geek out in an egalitarian format, and consume mugs of healthy malt, grain, & hop tea.

A background or an interest in making stuff, computer programming, building hardware or electronics, and general geek culture might be helpful in understanding what the hell we are talking and laughing about, but not required.

UBEW, the Union of Benevolent Electrical Workers is a local geek collective that provides mutual support to anti-authoritarian groups making radical social change through direct involvement, connecting communities, and education.  Find out more at ubew.org
