Howdy Geeks,

I know the list has been lagging over the years -- I keep thinking *someone* will make it rev up again :)

Meanwhile, here's a few recent additions to the list -- welcome to you all!

Best, Margaret

I've combined 8 water batteries using both series and parallel connections to produce enough volts and amperage to power a red LED light held by alligator clips. This is what I consider fun and I include my children in the builds so that they learn and grow into makers! (We also have mud batteries) Tough choice... I love the water, Farmer's markets, and The Great Morgani too. Above all, I would have to say the great sense of community. My kids are young and we are heavily involved in our schools, sports programs, etc. We volunteer our time and really get to know our teachers, neighbors, and fellow volunteers.

I recently moved to Santa Cruz with my family – my wife was admitted to grad school at UCSC – and on the first day here, as my wife and I were walking along Seabright beach, we saw a pod of dolphins frolic by - we took this as a sign that we need to stay here. Since then, we've fallen in love with just about everything around here: The nature (ohmygoodness Big Basin!), the biking (we live on campus, so the trails start right at our doorstep), the community (even more relaxed and friendly than our former home, Madison WI), and the underlying principle of the place: In Santa Cruz, we don't compete. We cooperate. Oh, geek, right. I'm the principal developer of Molecule World, an iPad app for visualizing complex biological molecules (http://digitalworldbiology.com/dwb/products/molecule-world). I've also done 3D scientific artwork in Blender and, long ago, I drew several self-published comic books.
