Hi,
Has anyone written (or encountered) a script or tool for uploading books from Google Books to the Internet Archive (ideally after checking that the book is not already present at the latter)? Also, what is the recommended way to upload a set of books together as a "collection" on IA?
This is a good idea because books on Google Books (I'm talking of public-domain (copyright-expired) ones that were once downloadable) have a tendency to disappear or become snippet-only etc.
I have manually uploaded a handful of books from Google to the Internet Archive in this way over the years (some are here:
https://archive.org/details/@svat&tab=uploads ), by manually clicking on "Download PDF" on Google Books, and then going through the upload process on IA manually.
(There are 60+ books.) Yesterday when I tried some of the later links they were snippet-only or even "no preview available" on Google Books; today I find that they are available again. This sort of phenomenon is a concern.
