I am a new member really interested in learning Sanskrit and its use
in NLP.
Kindly guide me to some resources before I can start contributing.

I recommend that you take a basic course in Sanskrit (eg: through samskrita bharati) or do the equivalent work yourself, so that you are able to read and understand (and preferably write and speak) Samskrit. Then, read a book about Sanskrit grammar - perhaps laghu-siddhAnta-kaumudii with a translation.
