I regard the belief that wrong-way cycling is safer to be a purely
individual superstition; I know of no organization that so argues. I
know of no individuals who argue, as I think you are trying to say, that
it is safer to cycle at night without lights, reflectors, etc. Hence I
have no opinion on such.
There is a difference, in my mind, between purely individual
superstitions and populist bicycling superstitions. Populist
superstitions imply that there is some coherent body of advocates for
them, which is the content of Sam's harangues.
