Dear members

I found the word तत्तत्व subdivided into तत् तत्त्व

Is there some grammatical rule?
Or तत्व It is synonymous of तत्त्व?

grazie

It is a simple compound of two words tat and tattva.

Not necessarily.

Namaste,

Srimad Bhagavata 1.2.11 has the word 'तत्तत्व', where it is a combination of तत् and तत्व.

वदन्ति तत्तत्वविदस्तत्वम् यज्ज्ञानमद्वयम् ।
ब्रह्मेति परमात्मेति भगवानिति शब्द्द्यते ॥ (११)

Please see the following link for padaccheda, anvaya and translation.

shankara

It can be two independent words tat and tattva or these two words compounded together depending on the context.

No. First ts incorrect form and the second is the correct form.

Thank you very much.

The metric in this case does not change.
It must be a text error.

Immagine incorporata 1

Also Bhagavatam has a version with tat tattva

Valerio,

The tad in question is stands for 'that', but indicating neither this nor that, having no definite location, and as such, something that cannot be pinpointed.
often used to mean Brahma.

Literally, it is 'that-ness'.  Made up of 'tad', plus the suffix -tva, where -tva is used to indicate the abstract 'state or condition', corresponding to the English -ness as in happiness.etc.

I am not able explain in the Devanagari script, hence the English.
.

There are two 'tat' s here.

One is part of tattvam.

The other is the isolated 'tat', the pronoun.

The pronoun tat refers to kim = what , the interrogative pronoun.

A relative clause based complex sentence is formed in an indirect way.

What is there in Gayatree, Aaditya and Agni ? That is tattvam =brahman.

Taf and Nagaraj

The meaning is clear.
My doubt was about the word tattva as it was written tatva with only one t.
I was wondering whether it was a mistake or if it was a normal use.

thanks
