I think काश्यप, descendant of कश्यप, would be nearer to the sense.  Like कुशिक - कौशिक, भरद्वाज - भारद्वाज etc.

were presented in गणपाठ - 4-1-104  अनृष्यानन्तर्ये बिदादिभ्योऽञ् -

अञ्  प्रत्यय comes after कश्यप etc and आदि अच् gets वृद्धि based on 7-2-117  तद्धितेष्वचामादेः
 कश्यपस्य  गोत्रापत्यम् काश्यपं। similarly others can be constructed.

1. अन्तरापत्य - Direct son।
2. गोत्रापत्य - Grand son।
3. युवापत्य - Great grand son provided great grand father was still alive.

please let me know if I made a mistake anywhere?
