This old book has been updated and released with a CC license, and is
now being announced as a 1.0 version.

It has a lot of Mathematica code in it, and maybe half as much Sage
code.

I couldn't find the tex source. Did I miss it, or do they just offer
pdf and mma notebooks?

Thanks,

Jason

Oh wow. After looking more closely at the pdf, it looks like the entire
book is written as a huge (set of?) mathematica notebooks. So I guess
the source *is* the mathematica notebooks.

The license doesn't permit derivative works. Bummer. But maybe they'd
allow people contributing, for example, an html or RST version (that
could then embed Sage cells...)

Cool. Ken has been using WeBWorK as well at UMass Lowell. Thanks for the pointer.

Take care,

Mike

one may ask for a waiver (the license allows this)

If someone knows him personally (Mike?) and would encourage him, I'd
be interested in driving up to Lowell to have a chat about this. I
think some of his colleagues have come to some of my local events, and
he *may* have indicated interest in the PREP workshop at some point?

Jason and a couple of others have pointed out the "No Derivative" clause.   It wasn't our intent to restrict the bundling of selected chapters by instructors, so we've revised the license on our web site (  http://faculty.uml.edu/klevasseur/ads2/ ) to be

Most of the existing files still list the No Derivatives restriction in their footer at this time, but they will be updated as we proceed.
