Dear Ruby on Rails programmers,

my name is Markus Doits and I am one of the founders of Stellenticket, a small but established software company in the heart of Berlin. A programmer currently working at our company recommended me this list to send our latest job offer to, so here I am.

About us

Stellenticket is a small software company of ~11 people, 4 of them doing software development. Since 2010 we run modern online job portals for universities in whole Germany, Technische University Berlin being our first customer. Additionally we build different web based software for our university clients. Stellenticket is completely self funded, so we have no investor on board (even though they knocked on our door) and are proudly and steadily growing with our own money.

We started developing in PHP, but all our newer products are made with Ruby on Rails. I think you all agree that this was a good choice.

To amplify our development we are searching for a Ruby on Rails Developer.

Working field

You help us to build and develop our Ruby on Rails projects further. Right now we build "Congeno", a customizable CRM software, event manager, newsletter sender, ...  for universities (already in production at multiple universities since beginning of 2016). Currently, we prepare a job application platform where companies can manage their incoming job applications. Additionally, most of our custom inhouse tools (like our "task manager" and "time manager") are programmed in Ruby on Rails and we have a lot of ideas what could be enhanced or which additional features we need.

Current stack
  • Ruby 2.5
  • Ruby on Rails 5.1.4 (and 5.2.0.rc1) - we stay up to date
  • Webpacker - modern javascript managing
  • RSpec, Selenium - writing tests is 50 % of the work
  • PostgreSQL 9/10 - best open source SQL database
  • Vue.js - frontend makes fun again
  • git - what else?
  • RuboCop, ESLint - so we cannot argue about code style but follow established conventions
Development is coordinated on our private GitLab instance.

What we expect

We need help in all areas: Be it frontend or backend.

Are you the frontend person and want to write those .vue-files or polish our scss files, make the user interface more pleasent? You are welcome.
Do you want to write scopes, refactor models or implement new backend logic? We have a job for you.
Or are you in between, fiddling with the backend, connecting it to our presenters and writing the view yourself, too? Please apply.

We expect you to have at least 1 year experience in your field in Ruby on Rails.

What you can expect
  • Working with latest open source technologies
  • A nice and small team of 4 developers
  • 20-32 hours work per week (what fits you best), flexible hours, no weekend work
  • Working language English or German
  • Work that fits you
  • Onsite working in our office in Prenzlauer Berg. Remote possible after getting in touch for some months onsite, too.

How to apply

Please e-mail ap...@stellenticket.de, Mr. Markus Doits, if you are interested or have any questions. Please provide your CV and what work you are interested in (frontend? backend? everything?). Additionally we can meet near our office in Prenzlauer Berg. Thanks!
