Hello when I run the file I hit "y" for the whole license thing then it spits a long error out and the log says:

I don't know what this means, I thought I followed all the instructions to the letter but I don't know whats wrong and I really want to use this program. Just so you know I am new to using kinect with my PC so ignorance could be the cause of the error...

Oh yes and if it helps I have a GTX 570 graphics card and a eight core AMD processor, all of my drivers are up to date

Try differnt usb ports and make sure the external power supply is plugged and there is no kinect sdk installed Post a screenshot of your devicemanager (your should see an entry Primesense / Camera).

Yeah its defiantly plugged in, and I tried a few USB ports, I got it to work with with another kinect program, I uninstalled everything though and reinstalled the drivers for this program but still nothing. I attached a screen shot of my device manager but this is the one part that I feel confidant that I got right.

okay never mind, I did a full wipe of any kinect related material and reinstalled it following the directions on the site, it works now!

I had this same problem and just found the solution:

If you allow your computer to download the Kinect drivers from Windows Update, Microsoft Kinect Camera drivers will be installed rather than the Primesense Kinect Camera driver required for Reconstructme.

Scenario:
You have followed the Reconstructme installation instructions and have just rebooted your computer and plugged in the Kinect. Windows automatically searches Windows Update and installs Microsoft Kinect Camera drivers (see attached Device Manager error screenshot).

Solution:
In Device Manager, right click on the Microsoft Kinect > Microsoft Kinect Camera and select Uninstall. Check the 'Delete the driver software for this device' box and click OK.
Option 1: Disconnect from the internet. Unplug and plug in your Kinect. Primesense Kinect Camera drivers will be installed.
Option 2: Unplug and plug in your Kinect. Click on the 'Installing device drivers' pop up dialog and click 'Skip searching Windows Update for drivers' and click Yes to confirm. Primsense Kinect Camera drivers will be installed.
In Device Manager, Kinect Camera should now be listed along side Kinect Audio and Kinect Motor under Primesense (see Device Manager Success screenshot).

This fixed ReconstructMe for me.
