hum, interesting message. 8-)
anyway, as for Christian "funk bands," i don't know if these guys
apply, but if you haven't heard adam again yet, you really need to.
_ten_songs_, _homeboys_, _dig_, _perfecta_...songs on all albums that
can make even redneck white boys like me groove. 8-)

Check out Soulfood76... their album _Velour_ was co-produced by Aaron
Sprinkle of poor old lu fame. They definitely fit the "funk" mold... incidentally,
I've been told the 76 in their name refers to 1976, because that's the year
funk got really funky. That's what I was told, anyway...

I have one word for you, well one word and a number: Soulfood 76
I haven't heard these guys myself but they have been described as "deep funk"
whatever that means. And Chuck when I look at my own 8 month old daughter
(Niamh Cair Bronagh McDonald) I, like you, can't help but sing that Choir song.

Ah, let me put a plug in here for Rasberry Jam's "Chi-Ro". Currently one
of my all time favorite albums. Definitely funky and groovy with strong
lyrics and themes - racism disguised as Christianity, materialism, to name
two; and, clocking in at about 70 mins excellent $/min. value. (It really
bugs me when I shell out $$$ for a CD and get 30 mins worth of music. But
that's a soapbox for another thread.)
If inerested, check out their home page @
http://dostoevsky.ucr.edu/rms/rbjin.html. There's not much there but a
couple of bio sheets telling who the band is, how they came to be, etc.

werid huh?
True, in some respects, but you can't tell me that "Bliss Is" is not
funk! That song defines it! However, I guess poor old lu is not
just funk, but awesome rock (not grunge), but post-retro, yeah,
post retro. Well, I guess you cannot place poor old lu in a music
category, I believe. Their music ranges from Spanish ballads [Cannon-Fire
Orange] to funk [Bliss Is, (of course, ahem)] to thrash(?) [World Falls
Down]
Let's leave it at that, poor old lu _does_ 'know' funk. After all,
didn't Aaron produce Soulfood's album?
Their web page is cool too:

Later!
for some reason, thinking of pol writing a song that "defines" funk
makes me chortle.
And that's not a pretty sight.
