Hi all, first post here for me.

I would like to record a version of Tom Anderson's
Da Slickit Licht on my next CD, and wondered if anyone
could advise me on the copyright situation with this tune.

I've not been able to find exactly when it was written,
and whether it is considered 'traditional', or if royalties
and permission are needed.

Any help is appreciated,
Thanks,

Simon.

A Google search on Tom Anderson leads directly to
http://www.melbay.com/authors.asp?author=355 . Royalties to the
Shetland Musical Heritage Trust. Oh, and its Da Slockit Light.

The tune is called "Da Slockit Light"...........
AFAIK the tune id now in public domain but must be credited to the composer
Slockit refers to the red glow of a candle wick as it is extinguished.

Hi, I've heard back from the mechanical copyrights body here
in Australia, and "Da Slockit Light" is still a copyrighted work,
and needs a licence for recording.

Cheers,
Simon.
