YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE THAT GIRL
4.30
TRACK 1 Bass, drums, Gretsch (John) [borrowed George's, I guess]
Track 3 John with George + Paul [lead vocals]
Track 2 solo guitar + electric piano
Track 4 [something crossed out]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's as far as the notes go, but track 4 had John's second lead vocal. An
acetate from this session has been bootlegged, with a different guitar solo
from George - presumably it has the electric piano too, but it's hard to hear.
On March 30th, they erased track 2, replacing it with acoustic piano, bongos,
and a fresh guitar solo. The stereo mix has track 1 left, 3 + 4 centered, and 2
mixed right.

The Anthology DVD has mostly tracks 3&4 in the C channel. The bvs sound
doubled too, except in the solo and perhaps the intro.
Front channels have track 1 L, track 2 R, with vocals in the middle but low.
The vocals can be more or less obliterated by cancelling with C.
Surround channels have tracks 1& 2, but also a mush of vocal reverb.

It's clearest on the solo itself. Chords played in 8th notes in quite a low
register with a dark timbre. Reminds me of Think For Yourself. And
interestingly it preserves the real count-in (by Paul) rather than the fake
film version.
Yes, I believe you're right. I'll have to listen to the acetate again and see
if I can pick out the electric piano part.
- John
Wow, never heard an electric piano, but there's a regular piano in
there, especially the intro.
How about the bongos?
dc
The electric piano is only on the acetate . As we now know thanks to John's
notes, it was on the track later replaced with acoustic piano, bongos and
the new guitar solo. On the acetate it can be heard playing during the old
guitar solo - doing 8th note chords in a low register, dark timbre. A bit
like the instrument in Think For Yourself.
