That time of year again!

For the past five years there has been the same survey posted here on
rec.juggling. The results are used to compile a chart of the top 40
jugglers of the year in terms of who people like to watch live, read
about, watch on video, hear about, copy, bitch about, talk about, listen
to on their favourite juggling podcast, etc. It isn't who you think is the
best juggler, it is about who has been your favourite in past 12 months.

To take part, just fill out the first "Other Jugglers" question in the
survey. As for the rest of the survey, feel free to answer what you want,
I don't really care too much about it. The results will be compiled around
December 16th.

Please do not fill out this survey if it is no longer 2008!

OTHER JUGGLERS:
1. Please state your top 10 favourite jugglers in any order:

- Haavard Hvidsten
- John Nations
- Peter Bone
- Thomas Dietz
- Jason Garfield
- Matthew Tiffany
- Vova Galchenko
- Toby Walker
- Anthony Gatto
- Myself

I think.

2. What is the greatest juggling trick you have ever seen (live or on
video) and who did it?

Probably the 9 ring 7 up 360 by Anthony Gatto. He said that's one of the
hardest ones HE's done, so it has got to be high on the list... Also by
the same man is the 7 ring 7 up 360 with a ball bounce. I think those two
are on the top of the top...

3. What style of juggling do you prefer watching? (Technical juggling,
comedy juggling, artistic juggling, specialty acts, etc)

Technical please. Some artistic and especially original is good, but let
it involve throwing at the very least.

YOUR OWN JUGGLING:
1. How many years have you been juggling? - almost 3 years now
2. Who taught you to juggle? - a guy in my class. I am very competitive so
I CRUSHED him.
3. How many hours a day (on average) do you spend a day juggling? An hour
maybe.

4. How many hours a day (on average) do you spend reading, writing or

talking about juggling? Probably two hours or more.

5. What is your favourite juggling prop and favourite style of juggling?

Is "technical" a a style? I prefer to juggle beanbags, but rings are also
cool. I like watching all three props about an equal amount each depending
on the tricks, but I never juggle clubs.
6. What is your favourite juggling trick that you can do or have done? 5
ball Mills Mess 3 up 360 in Mills Mess back to Mills Mess.
7. Do you consider yourself you a hobbyist or a performer? Hobbyist for
now, but I have done some performing and want to do more.
8. Have you ever performed for an audience of over 40 jugglers? Yes.
9. Have you ever performed for an audience of over 40 non-jugglers? Yes.
10. Do you have any juggling goals and if so, what are they? I want 7
balls and 7 rings solid, preferably solid enough to perform a trick or two.

JUGGLING RECORDS:
1. How many balls or beanbags can you flash? 11

2. How many balls or beanbags can you qualify and what is your record with

that number? 9 beanbags: 30 throws and 23 catches from April 2007
3. How many clubs can you flash? 5

4. How many clubs can you qualify and what is your record with that

number? 5, maybe 18 catches

Full name: Pink Fluffy Manchester Nigel
Age: -d to perfection
Nationality: Like, why can't we all just get along, man.
Gender: Dammit!! I was beaten to the "yes please" answer.

OTHER JUGGLERS:
1. Please state your top 10 favourite jugglers in any order:
- Rob Dawson, but I don't know if he still juggles cos nobody's seen him
for ages
- Winston "curious eyebrows" Plowes
- Stuart "curious eyebrows" Hill
- Ben Cornish
- Ben Beever
- Mamph
- LP
- Mike Armstrong
- Ewano
- John Carter

2. What is the greatest juggling trick you have ever seen (live or on
video) and who did it? Earning a living as a gigging juggler in the UK,
by anyone that can/has
managed it.

3. What style of juggling do you prefer watching? (Technical juggling,
comedy juggling, artistic juggling, specialty acts, etc) All this sport
juggling stuff is really really dull to
watch. x-ball endurance is the dullest convention game ever (even more so
than club balance
endurance) and spinning round under your juggling pattern should be banned
as it is plainly pointless
and very very boring.

YOUR OWN JUGGLING:
1. How many years have you been juggling? Very many.
2. Who taught you to juggle? "Juggling for the complete klutz"
3. How many hours a day (on average) do you spend a day juggling? Barely
any. Even on days when
the juggling club is on.

4. How many hours a day (on average) do you spend reading, writing or
talking about juggling? Bugger all. Except today while filling this in.

5. What is your favourite juggling prop and favourite style of juggling?
Chilli vodka. Talking b*ll*x late
at night at conventions.

6. What is your favourite juggling trick that you can do or have done?
Bitching about punters during
"meet and greet" gigs. To their faces.
7. Do you consider yourself you a hobbyist or a performer? Retiredish
performer
8. Have you ever performed for an audience of over 40 jugglers? yes
9. Have you ever performed for an audience of over 40 non-jugglers? yes
10. Do you have any juggling goals and if so, what are they? Juggling
goals? I've seen people juggling
footballs. Juggling the goals would be impressive.

JUGGLING RECORDS:
1. How many balls or beanbags can you flash? What? I'm supposed to care?

2. How many balls or beanbags can you qualify and what is your record with

that number? Some. It's fewer than people who give a sh*t about this
numbers stuff, and for not as
long. But I don't care.
3. How many clubs can you flash? What part of "I don't give a sh*t"
didn't you get?

4. How many clubs can you qualify and what is your record with that

number? I'm really flipping bored
of trying to make 5 clubs as solid as I'd like. The whole thing is
supposed to be fun. Seventy-
something, I've forgotten exactly how many.
5. How many rings can you flash? There has to be a lewd comeback to this
one somewhere...

6. How many rings can you qualify and what is your record with that

number? See above...
7. How many bounce juggling balls can you flash? Since I only own 7 I
can't answer this.. but wait.. I
don't care

8. How many bounce juggling balls can you qualify and what is your record

with that number? It's really funny watching people run around after
their bounce balls at conventions
cos they stood in the middle of the main hall to practice then f***ed up.
Get a confined area, silly
people.

TRICKS YOU CAN DO (please state yes or no):

1. 4 ball Burkes Burrage. No idea
2. 534 with balls, rings or clubs. What's that in non-siteswap language
please?
3. 441 Mills Mess. See above.
4. 4 ball Mills Mess. Never tried. Probably not. Don't care.
5. 5 ball Mills Mess. See above.
6. 3 ball Rubensteins Revenge. Carp. Which one's that? Yea, probably
7. Juggle any kind of prop over the head. yes, but mostly don't see the
point.
8. 66661 with 5 balls. See answer to no. 2
9. 5 catches of 3 club alberts. Never tried, probably not. Might have a
go though.
10. 3 up pirouette with 3 clubs. See answer to "what kind of juggling do
you like watching" question.
11. 5 up pirouette with 5 rings or balls. See above.
12. 3 ball ass-catch and continue juggling. What? While bent over with
your hands between your legs?
That'd be quite an interesting one to watch.
13. More than 15 catches of a 3 club backcrosses. Doubtful
14. At least 5 backcrosses with 5 clubs. Nope.
15. 5 or more pancakes with 5 rings. OMG, when was the last time I
juggled rings? This "survey" is
looking very sport-juggler-biased, if you ask me. Where's the clubswinging
questions? The ball-on-
parasol questions? The Backgammon questions? "Can you get a hula(/hoola)
hoop from ankles to neck
in one fluid movement?" questions? The "poi?" questions? And the dinner
from the moving finger
questions? Not to mention the "how late do you stay up at a juggling
convention?" "how completely
tw*tted do you get when you're staying up late at a juggling convention?"
"How completely tw*tted do
you need to be before you forget how bad an idea the chilli vodka is?" and
the "How many people do
you hit on at the average multi-day convention?" questions that would give
a much better
representation of the juggling scene in the real world rather than this
interweb-based numbers-
obsessed set of unrepresentative, limited-scope queries.
16. Juggle with a head balance. Yes, my head is mostly balanced while I
juggle (a subjective view, I
know.)
17. Juggle while bouncing a ball on your head. Never tried, probably not.
19. A devilstick propeller in both directions. Yes.
20. 2 diabolos for more than 20 catches. Which bit's the catch? Perhaps
"revolutions" would've been
better wording. Yes.

OPTIONAL NON_JUGGLING INFORMATION (I dont really want to know but it was

asked last year): That's not an excuse. If you don't want to know, why
ask? Are you now, or have you
ever been, a member of the communist party?
1. What is your religion (if any)?: Frisbeetarian
2. What is your sexuality? Girls are _generally_ cuter than boys, if you
ask me, though there are
exceptions.
3. Are you a vegetarian? Yes. And i think it's rather telling that so
many of these noob interweb
jugglers are answering "no". Time was the majority of jugglers were
veggie.
4. Do you gamble? I made the Brizzle poker tourney trophy. What do you
think?
5. Do you smoke? Nope
6. Are you a heavy drinker? By what definition?
7. Are you overweight? No. Nor am I an anorexic who would answer yes to
that question regardless of
actual weight. Not only do you have a poor excuse for inclusion of this
section, but your questions are
very badly worded.
8. Have you ever been in prison? Do police cells count?
9. Have you ever taken class A/B drugs? Again with the noob interweb
juggler stuff. Have you ever
been to Brizzle?
10. Have you ever been in prison? You do know that there is a link
between use of restricted
substances and memory loss, don't you. So, rubbish excuse, badly worded,
and plainly not proof-
read. Why is this section here again?

I'm surprised that so many people are choosing Komei Aoki. It seems he's
going to score big this year.

Also, my top 10 is a little 3-ball oriënted... might as well have chosen
Peter Bone, Alexandr Kulakov or Matthew Tiffany, but they haven't been as
much of an inspiration due to their lack of skills in high numbers :).

I don't know.. maybe Komei Aoki's whole routine..it looked like 1 entire
trick to me!

time in here... OK but I'll personally write down the jugglers that have
inspired me the most during the past year*

- Anthony Gatto (filmed a lot this year)
- Alexandr Kulakov (for just beeing so clean and awesome with rings)
- Wes Peden (for his great work on all aspects in peden tricks and
expectations)
- Sean Blue ('cause he rocks)
- Norbi (great juggler, great artist, great guy, mad skills with rings)
- Gabriel Beaudoin (16 years old juggler that seriously kicks ass at my
school, easy double pirouettes, easy 7 balls, 5 club stuff...rarely drops
and can also make 10 doubles linked together on the trampoline so
yeah...very talented kid)
- Michael Karas (because he improved a lot technically and come up with
his own stuff. He's proud of being a juggler and it shows on stage.
Humble, great guy he seems to be)
- Thomas Dietz (made a lot of videos again this year and a lot of
concentions. He'll also be there a the Turbo Fest this year in Quebec
City! Hahaha)
- Nikolai Gerasimov (for having the weirdest but most efficient sideway
russian style ever! 8 clubs flat front... whatever!)
- The Turbo 418 Crew (for making one of the most exciting group passing
routine I've seen ever for Cirque du Soleil in front of a total of 86 000
people. Video will come very soon)
