1) It looks like I have managed to land myself the role of organising
the event as planned
2) The UK DCI have confirmed that they are happy to help me organise
the event, although they cannot supply prize support
3) I have been assured that the event will be listed in the official
literature for the 'Con
4) White-Wolf themselves have indicated that they would like to help
with prize support
5) The 'Con may not take place at Loughborough onthe date scheduled.
So, point (5) aside, It's time to consider the event itself in detail.
I'd like some feedback from the other UK players out there before I
send any committing statements to the DCI.
Timing:
The plan is to run the event on the Saturday of the 'Con, starting
registration at 11.00am and starting the event itself at 12.00pm. With
3 2hr rounds and a final, this will take us to at least 8pm. Question:
Do people think this timing is OK? Feedback please.
Size:
I would estimate a turnout of between 30 and 50 players, based on my
knowledge of the scene in the UK, and the time and avenues we have re:
advertising. Do people think this may be too high or too low a number?
I've only had small show of hands so far, and I need to say how many
tables we'll need. Feedback please.
Format:
Use the DCI tournament floor rules, and the rules team
rulings/erratas/clarificaitons published at the time. We will make
this information available throughout the 'Con. Normal constructed
decks, with 3 rounds plus final as noted above.
Registration:
I would say £3.00 on the day is fine - the proceeds of which will be
used to pay for the production of flyers and posters, and for
additonal prize support. Do people think that this is too low or too
high a figure? Do people think it's worth registering before-hand (by
mail or e-mail?). Feedback please.
Name of event:
I have opted for the default name 'VtES UK National Championship 2000'
although this is a bit of a mouthful. Does anyone have any better
ideas?
Obviously is WotC choose to move the date or location of the 'Con then
this may have an impact on our plans. I'll keep eveyone informed.
I'd appreciate all feedback, and will compose my submission to the DCI
based on these thoughts.

Can you ask them to make sure they get the date and times right? I counted
four players who had used the wrong time (printed in the literature
correctly in some places, but not others) and so couldn't take part.

rounds can often go quicker than that. However, the final is untimed.

Possible, but it will require a lot of work sniffing some of them
out. *ANY* advertising *MUST* include a link to the errata within it.

Based on previous years, the low end would be a little optimistic - but if
promoted to the hilt, not beyond the realms of possibility.
