RARS is the Robot Auto Racing Simulation, a competition for
programmers and an on-going challenge for practicioners of Artificial
Intelligence and real-time adaptive optimal control. It consists of
a simulation of the physics of cars racing on a track, a graphic
display of the race, and a separate control program (robot "driver")
for each car. All RARS software and activities are free and open to
the public. It runs on DOS, Windows, OS/2, UNIX, Linux, and several

Submissions
Please! Any people who want to submit for the first time please
give yourselves more than a day or two (I made that mistake when
I started). Submissions are to be SOURCE CODE only (unless in
the unlikely event you use Borland C++ for OS/2).

Here is a repeat of the announcement about todays races:
March 31st, (Unlimited Division Races)
No. of races 2 novice and 2 expert each division
Tracks: Fiorano2 and Adelaide2
Laps: 80 each race
Software version: 0.64
Surface Type: 1
no practice, random starting order.
This is a modified .64 where all cars must cross the finish line
once before the race is over. Which had no effect this session.
The drivers will be uploaded to ftp.ijs.com to a file called
driv0331.zip in 1-3 days. These will only be the new drivers
updated this session (Ramdu, Highland)

Midget car racing event! All source codes must be shorter than
450 cc's. (cubic characters). Your car name (and function
name) must be at least 2 characters long (perhaps your
initials?). Sorry *nix peoples, a CR will be counted as a CRLF.
Besides, whats one character between friends. Please submit a
seperate letter or file with comments on your submission. For
this race, all drivers will be OPEN SOURCE CODE.
June 9th, R.A. and Adelaid2 Unlimited Division Races, 80 laps
Future: Random tracks anyone? (I also still have 6 or so unreleased
grand prix tracks.) How many people would object to an
ALL OPEN SOURCE CODE event? Does anyone have a rough
schedule of the international f1 circuit. I understand
that Brazil (Iago?) was run this weekend and perhaps I
can schedule our races to correspond with these other
races.

Comments from Ralph
There were a bunch of collisions today. Lisa, Phill and Highland were
three new versions which didn't have collision avoidance. Phill and
Highland were Turtle modifieds (hooray!). But, Mike, please change
the name FROM turtle to some other more distinctive name.
Also, I have not really gotten v.65 or .66 working yet on my
machine, so until I do the races will still be .64's. I will
concentrate on .65 for now and when I get it working I
will let everyone know. Then I will work on .66. Watch the
upcoming races for the version numbers.
