Armageddon has resurfaced a few months ago after being down for a
time. Loosely based on Dark Sun, Armageddon offers two very large cities
seperated by a long distaince, as well as a miriad of villages and outposts.
Role-playing is stressed, and generally adhered to better than on any
other mud I have seen. Players can choose to be any of the standard
classes one would expect, with some intersting extras; merchants, who
actually direct real trade between the cities, defilers are hunted and
despised if their nature is known, and haughty templars enforce order in
the cities. Many player races are also supported.

Armageddon is non-level based. Each character starts the game
with certain skills which go up through usage. Eight different languages
are included, which also go up through exposure. Players are also only
identified through their descriptions, to find out someones name you need
to ask, or hear it (note taking is thereby encouraged!)

The mud offers consistency, and lacks the wretched "cuteness" many
other muds seem to engender. Player killing is allowed (although
uncommon) and especially deadly since, beyond a short grace period,
characters killed stay dead. A recreate is allowed with some restored
skills, but that new character must be played differently.

Give it a shot: thrash.isca.uiowa.edu 4444

Yep, that is the part I like about it the most. It adds such
a depth of role-palying to the already great system.

Hahaha....you don't get out much do ya? :) While by no means
rampant, it is hardly uncommon. Death by assassin's blade, by
bandits, or to thieves unlucky enough to be caught red-handed, it's a
way of life.
`Tis a great mud tho, I have very much enjoyed it over the
past few years. No smurfs, no nike airs, no cans of spraypaint..this
be a serious place, but a helluva lot more fun than other places.

Ah, a Templar...I'll have to watch out for you. ;)

You can now play a mantis without special application, however it is
only recommended for players who have had much experience with Armageddon.
