The Python/Tk client for the Empire Server has been updated to function with the 4.3.XX Empire Server. There are several new features and one new command. Read the documentation for full details.

the 3.3 python has no build applet tool
installed 2.7 (on mac 10.8 not lion)
and tcltk, buildt app empire
but when I double click it (the icon) recognizes the double click but appears
to immediately die.
Help.

I have released an updated version of the ptkei client. This client is based on the 1.18.1 version that has been modified to work with the 4.3.xx version of the server.
Please be patient, I am just starting to learn python and I am blind, so I have not touched the GUI or TK code, at this time. This client has been tested on Windows 7 with python-2.7.x using the GUI. It has been tested on Ubuntu 12.04.0X, both TEXT and GUI. I had to install python-pmw to get it to work.
On OSX 10.X it has only been tested with the '-t' flag or text only, and it works. I use it with the '-t' flag TEXT ONLY and have fixed every problem that I have found so far.
