I've recently started playing Ultima Underworld again, but I initially
had some memory problems with it. While trying to solve them I had a
look at UW.EXE and was suprised to find the following:

"Thank you, and you, may i add, for using the Underworld Editor"

At offset 5988C I think, furthur on I found:

"uwedit.exe"

At offset 5C6C8.

Does anybody know what this all means? Is it a reference to some kind
of built in editor, or support for the editor Origin/Looking Glass used
to make the game?

Also, has anybody ever made an editor for Underworld, or have any
information on the map file structure the game uses?

Thanks

IIRC, they used the same game engine for developing and the game, so
it is likely that parts of it are in it, but I do not know how much.

I believe there are savegame-editors, but don't know about
map-editors. Carly, how about source & stuff for UW?
You can try to look at other dragons' sites.

I've had a look, and there doesn't seem to be any kind of map editor, so
I've decided to make my own instead, its coming along quite well, a
basic version should be ready within a month or so.
