What does everyone think about the ethical-ness (my new word!) of tinker
bombing boxes?

I have tried another, really mean thing, too. When I see theives around, I
go to the bank and deposit everything except 10 or so wooden boxes trapped
with exploding bombs. Thwn I just cruise the area, waiting to be robbed.

In my sick way, I get the stat bars of everyone in the area on my screen. So
when I hear the "boom" I see the hits bar drop.

I have killed two would-be thieves that way!

One and all, give me your thoughts and experiences with tinker bombs.

If it does not belong to you then you take your own choice as to
whether or not to tamper with it. If it is a trapped chest or box
then I would consider it a lesson learnt as many have to be learnt the
hard way in UO. If you are a pickpocket/thief then you take the rough
with the smooth !

I love tinker boxes! I came across one once, and being the greedy
bastard that I truly am, opened it! Boom! What a wonderful explosion! It
didn't kill me, however.

Now, if I see a tinker drop a box, I take it and leave it in my house
for those looters stupid enough to burgle it. He he he he he (evil
laugh)

Nope not a new word. It's in Webster's. Without the hyphen though.

Nothing wrong with trapping thieves, it's one of the risks of that profession.

This needs to be done at the Trinsic bank, Napa Shard... Thieves are rampant
there.

I love to get 70 units of kindling to put in my tinker boxes. It makes

The purpose of trapping boxes is protect your own property. If you
blow up opening someone else's box, it's your fault. The tinker that
placed the trap isn't the criminal there.

Now if the guy's a con-man and trying to deceive people into opening
his trapped box, lieing or whatever, then... well... that's goes into
the ethics of conning people.

Can tinker bombs be disarmed?

If you build a lock box, then trap it.

You can lock and unlock the box as any other, and the trap is armed or
disarmed depending on the status. Put the key on a keyring and unlocking
the box unlocks the lock, but does not disarm the trap. This is like a bomb
with a safety.

I must admit, I have lied about this very subject before. I feel so ashamed.
A thief, hidden at the bank, (how unusual eh?) called me as I was passing
in my attempts at selling locked boxes, and asked me, "Hey bud, can you
make trapped chests?"

Well, of course, I was carrying 2 of them. (g)

And of course I answered, "Uhm.. gee, I dont know. You want me to try?
Give me a purple potion and lets see."

And further of course, the NEXT thing I hear is 'Boom!'

I REALLY wish Origin had written in an animation for rolling around on the
ground and laughing.

Heh, this is pure and simple, unmitigated evil. No, I cannot
hyperbolize, it is poetic justice, the best kind.
