Is ChessMaster 3000 shareware or commercial? I found a file that upgrades
cm3000 to cm4000 but I can't find ChessMaster 3000. Any help?

Brett, CM3000 & CM4000 are both commercial programs. You should be able to
get CM3000 for under $30. Remember where as CM3000 will run on most PC
compatibles with a color monitor. The CM4000 needs to have a system which
can display 256 colors.. it requires you to have windows and for resonable
performance you need to have 386 and above with 4M and above. I am giving you
some near minimum hardware requirements. I ran it on a 386 40Mhz with 4M and
it ran like a "pig". On a Compaq 486/33Mhz with 16M ram is worked fairly ok.
I found that for a windows program it is not that "well" designed, especially
when you are using the opening book feature... I found it disappointing and I
still use the CM3000 version.... Anthony.

Ever tried to play the 2 versions against each other. I'm sure the CM4000
will win most of the games. The program is much smarter than the CM3000.

CM4000 is a complete other chessprogram than CM3000, it's even written by
somebody else. And about speed, read the posts about "My chessprogram is to
slow, Part X"
