Who folds their hand with no action in front of them?

I see this online all the fucking time and I can't make sense of it.

Pop-Tard probably understands the psychology thoroughly, but intelligent
responses are welcome too.

One situation is when it puts the person you are putting at a
disadvantage by doing it (the guy on your right) on megatilt. I remember
I kept doing that to a guy at an Indian casino in Oregon and he
practically had smoke coming out his ears. He blew through a few buyins
and then stormed off. It's a dick move on my part, but poker is poker.
Whatever works.

There really are times when you KNOW with virtual certainty that you
have no shot to win a pot with your cards, that you aren't willing to
bluff on that hand, and/or that a bet is coming if you check. So maybe
by "checking out" in some situations you are cultivating a certain table
image that you believe is favorable for those game conditions, while
giving away only a miniscule amount of EV. Let's face it, to most
average players if you "check out" you look like a real rookie.

I’ve done it. Tournament play. Three of us left. I’m UTG, middle stack, and the guy on my left big stack and on his left is short stack. By my folding crap, Big Stack doesn’t have to worry about me and can bluff Short Stack.

OK, but I see it at full tables at any stage of the tournament.

So in other words you were continuously making a dick move at a $2/4 limit game (tops)

That figures, on account of you being a DICK-HEAD

From Foxwoods rules of tournament play:

53: Non-Standard Folds Anytime before the end of the final betting round, folding in turn if there’s no bet to you (ex: facing a check or first to act post-flop) or folding out of turn are binding folds subject to penalty.
https://www.foxwoods.com/uploadedFiles/Pages/Game/Poker/Tournament%20Rules%203.1.10.pdf

Further:
66: Warnings, Penalties and Disqualification A. Penalty options include verbal warnings, one or more “missed hands”, one or more “missed rounds”, and disqualification. Missed round penalties are assessed as follows: the offender will miss one hand for every player (including the him) at the table when the penalty is given multiplied by the number of penalty rounds. Repeat infractions are subject to escalating penalties. Players away from the table or on penalty may be anted or blinded out of a tournament. B. A penalty may be invoked if a player exposes any card with action pending, throws a card off the table, violates the one-player-to-a-hand rule, or similar incidents occur. Penalties will be invoked for soft play, abuse, disruptive behavior, or cheating. C. A player on penalty must be away from the table. Cards are dealt to his seat, his blinds and antes are posted, and the hand is killed after each initial deal. In stud-type games if he is dealt the bring-in card he must post the bring-in. D. Chips of a disqualified player shall be removed from play.

I think I did it myself before, once or twice, online. Basically in frustration because I knew the hand was lost (despite my best efforts)

lol..he did angrily bring it to the attention of the floorman, who said
I had every right to fold as long as it was my turn to act. That's when
I knew this chump had an anger problem I could easily exploit, which I
did, to the max.

I was going to say, though, in a tourney you could really fuck someone
over by continually doing this (especially shorthanded), and it is also
very hard to distinguish from collusion, so I could see it being against
the house rules for any given tournament. That is apparently the case at
Foxwoods. For maximum EV, know all the house rules before you play, but
exploit every loophole. lol

By the way, I don't read every word you type, for starters, you're far too much of a bloviator to do that, I think you do that to make up for the fact that you're a mental midget

Lol. You're just so jolly. Lol

If you pulled that shit at my table and the floorman reacted similar, I would just have to start putting you on tilt. Extra long thinking everytime I need to act. If you bet I would let everyone know I was going to raise (just to kill any action). I would flash my cards to people who I liked (oops). New deck as often as possible. All kinds of ways to loophole you into a tilt or until you got up and went back to where you came from.

Cheating is cheating. and if you're proud of it, it goes to what kind of person you are- tiny man, jealous, feelings of inferiority, expecting of entitlement and of little morality.

I never "bragged" about "it", in fact, I've expressed regret about it, it's even right there in one of your doctored quotes you scumbag paedophile worshipping paedophile

Of course I should be admired for being a stud, instead you slander me about being a paedophile, lol It's obvious who's projecting

I haven't seen anyone do it repeatedly enough to think that they're
deliberately trying to tilt someone else, but collusion certainly makes
sense, except these are online tourneys and one would think the telephone
(or skype) would be a simpler option.

It occurs to me though, that it might be an artifact of multi-tabling.
Folding rags to no action would let the player pay more attention to other
tables.

From YOUR post, "I think I did it myself before, once or twice, online. Basically in frustration because I knew the hand was lost (despite my best efforts)"........

Now, after I pointed out your mistake, you're pretending like you realized you can't (fold out of turn online) all the time. Nice try.

In a live game where nobody knew me I used to raise blind and then fold blind. I'd throw my cards in the muck before anyone could stop me. Then as the hand progressed, I'd kinda talk to myself and "wonder" what I threw away. Some people thought I was a little weird.

I've done it multiple times. There are many situations when you don't want to catch up enough on a free card to force a call. But, I have to say, twice I've folded to no bet and ended up going runner runner for quads. So, twice I'd have ended up winning a small pot, but didn't because I folded to no bet, and all the other times I avoided being forced to call on hands I'd ended up losing. IMO, Omaha8 experts would know most of what I say....you can tell immediately if you are going to end up losing or winning and you should muck immediately when you know you will lose....such as when you flop a nut 6 high straight....almost always end up losing with that hand despite flopping the nuts.

I think what you are seeing is people pre-checking "fold" and the software folds their cards when it is there turn, even though there is no action. I haven't played online in so long that I don't know if it would work that way at Stars, which is the only place I played regularly.

But people do it in live games on occasion and I don't know why. I used to play in tournaments at Foxwoods with a woman who would sometimes fold an unraised big blind. She did not do anything else that looked so idiotic and she reached some final tables, so I don't know why she did it.

That might be plausible, but the site doesn't have a "Fold" option until
there's a bet on the table. If there's no action, there's a "Check/Fold"
button which does the expected things at the appropriate times.

I think you hit the nail here Will. The site I play on has the fold option button but it does have an additional pop up when it's your turn to act that asks if your sure since there is no bet. I will occasionally fold before showing when I've been allowed to get free cards until the river, knowing I had a loser but hoping, bad poker I know but it is what it is. Why complain, it's whoever s money, whoever s game and they can play however they want, be thankful to have em at your table.
