Awesome! The X-Files never received double-digit ratings last season.
This season, the premiere broke that barrier and now this episode almost
did. These are *very* good ratings for a Friday night FOX show, especially
one as unusual as The X-Files.

Actually I really don't think Fortune Hunter is *that* bad, except it's in
a killer time slot. Actually, I prefer to watch Weird Science and Duckman
on USA instead of Fortune Hunter, and I even enjoyed the first two episodes
of Fortune Hunter.

Same reason that "Full House" and "America's Funniest Home Videos" are still
being watched. People get used to a single idea in a sitcom and stick with
it no matter how bad it gets. "Roseanne" has a reputation, that's all. It
is still funny on occasion.

I'm surprised at the drop. "Home Improvement" smashed it a lot harder than
I thought it would. Still, 16th is respectable.

It's too hokey. Even my sisters, who normally love this kind of show, say
that it's "Melrose Place" all over again, and that they can't relate to the

The Tiffani-Amber Thiessen hype brought it up to 11 for the season

I still don't understand how the show on right after FOX football,
when folks are too lazy to turn off their sets in between that and 'The
Simpsons", can finish 92nd. I smell the disaster of the century. I hope
the new "Dr. Who" fares better than these...

You're right. "Murder She Wrote" skews towards the 45+ (it could be higher
or lower) while both "Seaquest" and Lois and Clark" are battling it out
for the younger viewers (see the Aug.29-Sept. 4 1994 issue of "Variety"
concerning the current prices for 30 seconds of TV ad time.).

Ouch.."Home Improvement" was number one in the ratings last week.
"Frasier" was in the twenties rank...(I was thinking, if NBC moved
"Seinfeld" to 9 PM Tuesdays, while bumping up "Frasier" a half-an hour
earlier on Thursdays, I wonder what the ratings would be like?)

Keep in mind that "Melrose Place" doesn't have the "BH90210" lead in plus
its now facing tougher competition on Monday nights. (ditto for the comment)

Dramas take a lot longer to develop an audience base
then sitcoms ("Melrose Place" needed some time before it got on track.).

I don't get these TV shows in Ottawa, Ontario Canada (FOX is coming to our
area very soon on cable), but from the articles I saw in the newspapers
and "Time", these look like very interesting shows (in addition, both
shows are compatible with "X-Files.")
