'24' producer sells drama script to FX
Braga credits include 'Terra Nova,' 'FlashForward'
By ANDREW WALLENSTEIN
Broadcast drama vet Brannon Braga is ready to try his hand at cable.
The writer-producer behind hits including "24" has sold FX a script
for drama series "Malice," a psychosexual paranormal thriller that
redefines the events of the Salem Witch trials.
Braga wrote "Malice" with Adam Simon ("The Haunting in Connecticut").
They are exec producers with Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry of Prospect
Park. "Malice" comes from Fox 21, 20th Century Fox's cable and
alternative production unit.
Braga is coming off one season as a showrunner overseeing Fox's "Terra
Nova." Other credits include ABC's "FlashForward," CBS' "Threshold"
and three different iterations of the "Star Trek" franchise.
Prospect Park has plenty of business with FX. In addition to comedy
"Wilfred," which recently began its second season on the cabler, the
shingle has several projects in development at FX including "Eye for
an Eye," a drama series with Ice Cube attached potentially to star and
produce, and "GILF," a comedy from "Wilfred" star and co-creator Jason
Gann.
Judging from the content of "Malice," "American Horror Story" may have
whetted FX's appetite for more of the weird and wild. The horror
anthology series, which has been renewed for a second season, came
from 20th TV and "Glee" creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.
