Then get real. I'm not a fan of either Trump or Hiliary. The Republicans
will keep control of the House, and probably the Senate as well. That
means a vote for Hiliary is a vote for gridlock, and Trump isn't going
to get a Congress that will lick his boots either. Except the next
President is going to change the makeup of the Supreme Court for the
next 20 years. The last person I want doing that is Hiliary.
Personally, I live in a state that definitely won't be for Hiliary.
That means I can use my vote to send a message. I'll probably do one of

As a libertarian, I am quite happy with gridlock. When government acts,
it is almost never to make an improvement; it almost always makes things
worse. Better to have gridlock and prevent action. It's kind of a

But who gave to the Canadian charity? More than 1,000 foreign leaders,
national governments and others with reasons to curry favor with former
President Bill and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The Clinton Foundation claims it only "inadvertently" bundled the
foreign donations. It also says it mistakenly counted money received for
speeches by the Clintons as "donations" rather than as revenue.

All told, some $20 million in gifts were "amended" by the foundation's
refilings. It was also revealed that the foundation raised almost $178
million in 2014, while Hillary was still employed by the foundation.

The media have tried to play all this off as some kind of "he said, she
said," political duel between the Democratic front-runner and
Republicans. "Republicans have sought to draw attention to the
(foundation's) spending, calling it a 'slush fund' for the Clintons and
arguing that donations received from foreign entities were given to
curry favor with Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state," The

Actually, "slush fund" may be too kind. It's no coincidence that the
years of "voluntary" tax refilings coincide with Clinton's years at
State. Or that some of the 30,000 emails erased from her private email
server might have held communications with foreign donors to the
foundation — a clear violation of the law.

As we wrote last week in our Capital Hill blog, this has the "potential
to be the Mother of all Clinton Scandals." The FBI already is
investigating, which raises the question: Is the refiling just a gambit
for presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to appear as if she and the
family foundation are operating within the law?

To its credit, the Washington Post reported in February that foreign
governments gave millions to the Clinton Foundation while Hillary headed
the State Department. They included Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Australia,
Norway and the Dominican Republic.

That seemed impossible, since an agreement in 2008 that the foundation
signed with the U.S. government had supposedly limited its
foreign-government gifts.

But, in fact, it "did not prohibit foreign countries with interests
before the U.S. government from giving money to the charity closely
linked to the secretary of state," the Post wrote.

In short, it was a sham — one that appears to have enriched the Clinton
clan to the tune of millions of dollars, while posing the foundation as
a legitimate charity.

If Hillary someday becomes president, she'll pick up right where her
husband left off — with a cloud of scandal over her head.

SUMMARY

Otherwise known as the McCarran-Walter Act, the Immigration and
Nationality Act of 1952 was meant to exclude certain immigrants from
immigrating to America, post World War II and in the early Cold War. The
McCarran-Walter Act moved away from excluding immigrants based simply
upon country of origin. Instead it focused upon denying immigrants who
were unlawful, immoral, diseased in any way, politically radical etc.
and accepting those who were willing and able to assimilate into the US
economic, social, and political structures, which restructured how
immigration law was handled. Furthermore, the most notable exclusions
were anyone even remotely associated with communism which in the early
days of the Cold War was seen as a serious threat to US democracy. The
main objective of this was to block any spread of communism from outside
post WWII countries, as well as deny any enemies of the US during WWII
such as Japan and favor “good Asian” countries such as China. The
McCarran-Walter Act was a strong reinforcement in immigration selection,
which was labeled the best way to preserve national security and
national interests. President Truman originally vetoed the law, deeming
it discriminatory; however there was enough support in Congress for the
law to pass.

A lot of very angry Americans -- too many to write off as a bunch of
haters. Trump is in freefall right now, but it ain't over till it's
over. Hillary won't inspire a big turnout. Fear of Trump will energize
quite a few, but it's also possible for Trump to mobilize a good turnout
for him among those who normally don't vote because they think it's
hopeless. I doesn't matter how many times we think it's over for him, or
how far he falls in the polls because he could actually turn this around
on a dime at any moment.
