I watched:

THE MAGICIANS:
"The World In The Walls". This was a "main char discovers he's in an
insane asylum" ep. I'm bored with this trope so I lost interest soon
after the opening credits but will try to watch it again later.

REGULAR SHOW:
• "Maellard's Package". The duo wait for a delivery at Maellard's
mansion.
• "Men in Uniform". The park guys want to keep the park open.

REGULAR SHOW:
• "Cube Bros". Muscle Man gets a job in a corporate office.
• "Garage Door". The guys must go on an epic quest at Home Warehouse
to fix a garage door Gramps destroyed after they "road runnered" it.
• "The 1973 Tetherball Championship Trophy". Mordecai and Rigby try
to win a vintage tetherball championship trophy.

ADVENTURE TIME:
• "I Am a Sword". Finn has nightmares about his missing sword.
• "Ghost Fly". A vengeful spectre haunts Jake and the tree house.

ADVENTURE TIME:
• "Lady Rainicorn in the Crystal Dimension". Jake's son finds a hidden
box and draws attention from a Rainicorn
• "Everything's Jake". Jake is transported to a different world
• "Frog Season". Finn and Jake follow a frog carrying a crown across
all the seasons.

CODES AND CONSPIRACIES:
"Ancient Astronauts". The "Chariots of the Gawds" charlatten is
investigated. Wow, I never knew he's a racist before! Apparently he
thinks aliens altered our DNA after "messing up" and making black
people.

DEADLY POSESSIONS:
I think they're running out of ideas for this show already because this
week featured:
• Bela Legosi's "cursed" mirror
• Charles Manson's "cursed" TV set
It was pretty laughable, really.

THE WARRIORS:
A Coney Island gang known as the Warriors goes to the Bronx to attend a
city-wide meeting of all gangs; at that event, however, the psychotic
leader of a rival outfit, the Rogues, assassinates the head of the
city's foremost gang, but the Warriors are pegged as culpable, and they
must fight their way across rival turf to make it safely back to their
territory.

What did you watch?

That episode finds its legs towards the end and gets good/meaningful.

Love that film even if it is cheesy and an almost Broadway version of gangs.

> What did you watch?

PATTON OSWALT TALKING FOR CLAPPING: A 2016 stand up comedy routine.
The venue here is in San Fransisco so there are lots of gay jokes.
There is also a lot of stuff about his daughter, including the crowd's
favorite moment when Patton Oswalt discusses in detail the plot of MY
LITTLE PONY. Overall, I didn't enjoy this stand up comedy special
nearly as much as some of his other specials. Maybe I just couldn't get
into it because I was afraid that he'd have some jokes about his wife?
Whatever the case, the humor here fell flat.

LOVE IT OR LIST IT: An HGTV show where a couple has to decide whether
to keep their remodeled home or trade it out for a new home. I don't
normally watch this show because it seems fake and because the two hosts
do a lot of fake lame/bickering, but I had stumbled across a Google news
article that this episode would feature a couple that is suing the show.

http://www.avclub.com/article/love-it-or-list-it-sued-over-shoddy-renovations-ri-235481

...and a more detailed account of the complaints:

http://www.newsobserver.com/news/business/article72324117.html

If I were a judge I would throw this lawsuit out as being baseless.
Seriously, suing the show because the on air host is not a locally
licensed contractor even though the work was done by a locally licensed
contractor? Suing the show because the on air person who showed them
houses was not a local real estate agent even though they have an
ability to make a purchase offer to any home they want? Have they never
watched the show? I did think it was funny, while watching, that fancy
furniture kept appearing and disappearing from the homes and that all
the real estate 'for sale' signs in front of the homes were really the
same sign being moved around and how the show pretended that this was
the couple's actual home instead of a rental property and how the show
pretended that these 'parents' had two kids and that the home that
'desperately needed remodeling' clearly had brand new paint and flooring
throughout already.

but it's memorable.

Yeah, his wife picked a really awkward day to die.

I watched:

Last few episodes of Game of Thrones. The show continued to get better
throughout the end. Looking forward to the premier tonight to see what
happens next.

SNL - Tribute episode for Prince. They showed several of his
performances which was enough to last about an hour but I only
recognized two of his songs. The man recorded a ridiculous amount of
music and was on the show more times than I was aware. The Prince
sketches they showed were hit or miss.

Fifty Shades of Black (Netflix rental) - Marlon Wayans spoof of Fifty
Shades of Grey. It was mostly not funny. There were a few scenes which
were really funny but not enough to recommend the movie overall.

The Huntsman: Winter's War (theatrical release) - I was really torn,
trying to decide if I should watch this before or after watching "Snow
White and the Huntsman". All the reviews I skimmed said the movie was
both a prequel and a sequel. I finally decided to watch it first since
it was supposedly a prequel and I figured whatever sequel bits would be
wrap around. I was wrong. The first 15 or so minutes is the prequel
then the movie jumps ahead several years to after the events of "Snow
White and the Huntsman" and it's pure sequel after that.

The basic plot follows The Evil Queen's (Charlize Theron) sister Elsa, I
mean Freya (Emily Blunt) who after having her heart broken swears off
love sets off to conquer her own kingdoms and force her subjects to
swear off love too. She captures lots of children who she trains to be
her Huntsmen, which is where we get the backstory of The Huntsman (Chris
Hemsworth) and his wife Sara (Jessica Chastain). With the Evil Queen
dead, all eyes turn to her Precious magic mirror. Sauron, I mean Elsa,
I mean Freya wants the Precious magic mirror to increase her power and
conquer Snow White's kingdom. Under orders from Snow White, The
Huntsman sets off with a Fellowship of the mirror to destroy it (perhaps
in the fires of Mount Doom where it was forged, I'm not entirely sure).
I won't spoil what happens next but they have various adventures that
seem strangely derivative of other fantasy movies. In spite of my
snark, I actually sort of liked this movie. At least I didn't hate like
the critics did. It generally held my interest and was well enough
made. I know it's being savaged in reviews by critics but this is what
I'd call a movie made for fans, not critics. It did it's job well
enough. My main gripe was it's being sold as a prequel when it should
be sold as a straight sequel. My secondary gripe which I didn't realize
until afterwards is it retcons or ignores much of the events in Snow
White and the Huntsman. :-/

Snow White and the Huntsman (bu-ray) - Darker retelling of Snow White
(Kristen Stewart) which turns it into an action movie. The Evil Queen
(Charlize Theron) along with her brother (who may also be her lover, the
movie sure hints at this heavily) murders Snow White's father and throws
her in the dungeon for good keeping. When the Queen decides it's time
to kill Snow White, Snow conveniently escapes from the dungeon so the
Queen sends the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) out to kill her. From there
it basically turns into a fantasy action flick with few similarities to
the classic Disney story most people are familiar with. I hadn't
watched it since I saw it originally in the theater so I had forgotten
most of what happens in the movie. Unfortunately my attention kept
wandering so I didn't give it my full attention but I guess it was OK.
I think I might actually prefer the sequel. At least that ripped off
better movies.

This episode has a good payoff, and was better than expected - stick
with it...

I found a couple of good ones on Chiller yesterday!!... :)

Chemical Peel (Chiller) - Occasionally, Chiller will yield up a few
rough under-appreciated 'microhorror' gems, and I'd put this one in that
category.
The concept, if not necessarily the execution here (which is
basically the umpteenth variation on "Lifeboat"), was pleasingly unique
- though I'm not sure I buy the idea that a toxic cloud of gas would not
dissipate after 24 hours, though I suppose it's possible that it might
not if trapped within a valley, 1) on a day with no winds, and 2) if the
train derailment was continually leading to the chemicals mixing over
time. (I'm going to ignore the chemistry side of this concept because,
while I don't buy the specifics, I'm willing to indulge the filmmakers
on this if the rest of the premise is good, as it is here...) But "death
by poison gas" as horror is as good a recent 'twist' on the genre as
anything (probably even better than the "death by nuclear war" horror of
something like "Aftermath"...).
Anyway, I quite enjoyed this one - it took about 15 or 20 minutes to
get going, but once the toxic cloud was released, I found this quite an
enjoyable ride.
Best of all, they didn't bungle the ending - indeed, the ending packs
a pleasing wallop. :)
IJB says, "Check 'er out!"

Wynonna Earp (recorded) - Still enjoying this. In this one, Wynonna &
co. go up against a Revenant that can attack through appearances in
mirrors (which is a problem, as Wynonna can't shoot and kill a
"reflection"!) - now I don't love that the Revenants are already getting
this supernaturally "powerful" so early in the show's run... but,
whatever. Anyway, this was a good CotW. And, on the side, we get more
background on Doc Holliday; and they even develop Dolls some. (Note: No
deputy "Haught" this week.)

golf - Valero Open in Texas. I barely paid attention.

Mako Mermaids (recorded) - Meh. A couple of episodes - in the first
stupid Merboi tricks the mermaids at a Halloween party and gets his
hands on the stupid magical Trident; in the second, Merboi's annoying
"land girl"-friend starts to suspect the mermaids and the principal and
starts asking uncomfortable questions.

The 100 (recorded) - OK episode in which stupid Clarke's inability to do
what needs to be done (i.e. killin' *EVERYBODY*) comes back to bite them
in the ass (I am actually quite pissed that they wrote out Alessandro
Juliani here). Meanwhile, the Murphy storyline (who's still back in
Polis serving the false "Heda" chyck) takes an unexpected twist that I
didn't see coming. Oh, and Jaha shows up in Polis to "Chip/Pod" all the
stupid dirty, filthy, barbaric Grounders (the first time I've been
rooting for Jaha this season!!...).
Weirdly, even though "The 100" is showing a new episode this week,
they did NOT show scenes for the next episode at the end of this
episode. Dunno why...

You're Next (Chiller) - Hey, next time there's an unexpected home
invasion by a bunch of psychos, I want Sharni Vinson on *my* team!! ;)
Second unexpected pleasure from Chiller in a row this Saturday, this
one definitely starts too slowly - but by the time the psychos start
staking Vinson and the family she's visiting in the mansion, this really
picks up. The rest of the flick is Vinson trying to outwit the murderous
psychos, while trying to keep the family of rich, privileged nitwits
alive. There were a couple of decent 'twists' in here (though I saw the
second one coming). I didn't love the ending (if Vinson had just called
911, or recorded the proceedings, her problems would be solved), but
it's a minor blemish.

Jack of the Red Hearts (Lifetime) - Better than I was expecting - it
actually held my attention throughout. That said, I like my Lifetime to
be "Psycho Stalker" or "Teens in Jeop.!" - I like it much less when they
try to get all "meaningful" like they did here... Good performances
here, esp. from lead AnnaSophia Robb.

I watched my recording of the first season 4 ep of Vikings. No real
comments.

I also watched the movie 'Limitless' on Blu-ray. I like the TV series
more. Bradley Cooper's character really is a bastard in the movie. On
the other hand the conspiracies within conspiracies aspect of the story
was at least competently done.

Now that I think about it, why weren't they turned into Pod people long
ago. It's not as if Jaha was the first one to become a pod person.
There were options before him.

I know I liked this but I don't really remember it. At first I thought
it might have been a different movie I watched a while back with a
similar premise except the family ends up turning the tables on the
psychos with extreme prejudice. I wish I could remember what that movie
was called. It's well worth checking out.

If the movie doesn't have any psychos in it, how good could it possibly be?

Nope. That episode is a summation of the entire silly series ... a load
of weird, over-sexed crap in an insane asylum. That's pretty much the
point where most intelligent people stopped watching it. :-p

After going through a few years worth Netflix rentals then finally
googling the plot, I've come to the conclusion that the movie I was
thinking of is "You're Next"... :-)

But since I spent the time reviewing past rentals, I did come across a
couple of other pscyho/revenge flicks I can recommend:

"In Their Skin" 2012 movie staring Selma Blair. This was a twisted
movie where a psycho family shows up and terrorizes Selma Blair's family
trying to become them or something. I gave it 3 stars which generally
means I liked the movie.

"No One Lives" 2012 movie that I have very little memory of but I rated
it 3 stars so I must have liked it. It stars Luke Evans and Lee
Tergesen and as I recall the plot revolves around a group of criminals
who hold a family hostage out in the woods but encounter something
scarier than themselves.

"I Spit on Your Grave 2" 2013 movie that I once again don't really
remember but I gave it three stars and I do recall being pleasantly
surprised that it was watchable. From what little I remember, it's a
rehash of the first one with a woman getting kidnapped and assaulted
then getting revenge on her captors. The other reviewers I see gave it
4 and 5 stars so it must be better than the name and plot implies.

I almost got to the "I Spit on Your Grave" pair of flicks during a recent Showtime(?) free preview weekend - I'm still kind of kicking myself that I didn't watch them then, but I think it was one of those things that I had too much to do that weekend... :(

On Sat Apr 23 I watched:

DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW: Last Refuge
The Pilgrim was vanquished, but why didn't she go back
earlier in time & kill the parents. Anyway the legends did
the impossible.

THE GOOD WIFE: Landing
Seemed to be a fill in episode in part.

GRANTCHESTER: 2-4
A sequel to 2-1 many of the details of which I had
forgotten.

SCOTT & BAILEY: Tough Love
The second of 3 episodes I had missed previously.
"Rachel's first job as sergeant".

Yeah, they said that time only gave her one shot at killing each of
them, but if she can go back and kidnap their parents, I don't see why
she can't go back a bit more and kill their parents before they were
conceived.

Speaking of 70s movies, I forgot to mention I skimmed "Truck Turner".
It's 1974 blaxploitation flick. I had never heard of it before but I
noticed the DVR description said it stars Isaac Hayes as the hero and
Yaphet Kotto as a pimp who murders Hayes' friend setting him out for
revenge. I was curious to see Yaphet Kotto playing a 70s pimp so I
recorded it and fast forwarded through it. I don't really know what
happened since I was mostly fast forwarding but I stopped at one scene
with a woman who runs a brothel was yelling at a group of prostitutes
using every vulgarity under the sun when I suddenly realized the woman
cursing like a sailor was Nichelle Nichols. That broke my heart. Uhura
should *never* say or even *know* the words she was using. :-/

Uhura was a communications officer. She not only knows those words, she
knows them in 20 different languages! :D

I was pleasantly surprised.

I seem to recall a similar complaint about Trading Places.

If this is the show I am think of, there were complaints about it being rigged
several years ago.

If memory serves, it was very contraversial at the time.

Killing the parents in childhood would also preclude any siblings of the
protagonists, although a disproportionate number of fictional heroes are
only-children.

A lot of plots were moved along, although the implication that Alicia
can't find fulfillment in life until she lands a new man was a bit
eyerolling, especially added to the implication that Diane wasn't
fulfilled until she landed her man. There have been romantic twists all
along in this show, but they're taking a heavy romance-oriented tack
towards the end now.

I laughed when Alicia was able to stymie the NSA by assuming that the
CSE was listening in, and dangling her client in front of them. The
stereotyping of Canadians felt a bit heavy, what with the justice
enforcing politeness and the CSE supervisor saying "aboot" (which even I
caught, and I'm usually deaf to the Canadian accent). But I was amused
by the case of the week.

It was a comic Canadian accent, which made it impossible to miss. There
was no subtlety in that episode whatsoever.

Also, how come the time girl only gets one shot at killing them, but
they get unlimited shots at killing Savage?

I think because they kidnapped their younger selves, removing them from
the timeline. The episode ended with the Time Master saying history was
"setting" and they needed to return their younger selves soon or they
wouldn't be there anymore to do so.

That doesn't make sense to me either.

Our Heroes are less bothered about possibly disrupting history?
