Merry Xmas to all Trump voters.

//Up to 1400 AT&T employees are getting coal in their stocking
courtesy of AT&T. The installers tell the New York Post they received
pink slips despite numerous promises by AT&T that it's dedicated to
"creating jobs" thanks to the death of net neutrality and a lower tax
rate courtesy of the Trump administration.//

A Christmas (NOT "Xmas") slap in the face to all 0bummer/Hitlery voters
and other leftist cretins.

As far as AT&T is concerned, whether one's particular job at a company is
viable or not has nothing to do with who you voted for or whether you company
is creating other jobs in other areas.

Merry Christmas, and death to the American Left!

Competition in the telco sector means radical shifts in jobs.

He's correct but that does nothing to mitigate the hutzpa of AT&T to
talk about creating jobs and giving people extra cash while planning
to lay off a number of employees. It may be a necessary thing but
notice how they make no mention of the layoffs when talking about
giving people 'free' money. It's all about trying to look like the
good guy by hiding the grinch side of the corporate world.

AT&T wants to merge with Time Warner - but will need government approval.

This is AT&T's way of currying favor with the Trump administration,
whose approval they'll need to get their merger, nothing more.

Ditto most of the other companies, like Wells Fargo. Trump indicated
that he might increase the penalties they have to pay, and all of a
sudden, they decide to raise wages.

What a coincidence!

Some of the other companies are based in places that were set to raise
their minimum wages anyway... so it's no big deal to do it a little earlier.

I don't think the bonus announcement was made so that AT&T would look
like good guys. I think the announcement was made to promote Trump's
tax cut as a way of trying to gain favor. I think the bonus
announcement was very much made as an appeal to the government to let
the AT&T/Time Warner merger move forward.

"He's correct" isn't a cite, and "radical shift in jobs" is vague to the
point of meaninglessness. You appear to want to discuss the topic
seriously, so you might want to step it up a notch in being factual.

but that does nothing to mitigate the hutzpa of AT&T

It's "chutzpah". I believe it's derived from either Hindi or Sanskrit.

Yes, it's Orwellian double speak. We're used to this from large
corporations, who don't give a shit about anything except their own
agenda. One point you missed, though, is that ATT is attempting to kiss
Trump's ass so he can move along their attempt to acquire Time Warner.

I think that's what RichA meant when he mentioned
"competition". He was being sarcastic. There is practically NO
"competition" left.

Even if they got massive tax cuts and promised to use the cash
to "save employment" ?

Yes, Moron confirmed.

The evidence certainly points to that.
