I've been meaning to do this news posting for weeks, but haven't had the
time [as witness my missing even my update last week]. So some of the
information is a bit old. I'm going ahead and writing up everything in
case anybody has missed anything. Sorry I didn't get it earlier.

Of course, it does mean I get to report the latest news while it's still
hot off the presses. Billy Warlock (ex-Frankie) is reportedly about to
sign a contract to come back to Days. That could make things interesting,
though I don't see him being any serious threat to Jack and Jennifer's
relationship. I'm not sure where he'll fit into things on the show now.

Well, I have to apologize again because the day I missed the update last
week was James Reynolds' (Abe Carver) last day on Days. It was a trademark
Days "I'm hopping a plane this afternoon" kind of goodbye. The east coast
had a special report [anyone else feel like killing Saddam Hussein for
ruining our soaps? ;-)], so we missed the big announcement, but he
apparently told Roman he and Lexie were leaving town -- and they'd already
gotten married. [Finally someone on a soap does what all MY friends do and
just went down to the courthouse, no fuss, no muss.] Roman's comment was
"Well, hell already froze over and nobody told me!"

Anyway, as has already been reported on the net, James Reynolds finally
found a show that will actually let him work and be an integral part of the
storyline. He's replacing Taurean Blaque (a fine actor who never quite got
into the rhythm of daytime) as Henry Marshall, patriarch of one of the two
main families on Generations. He's kind of young to be a patriarch, but if
anyone can do it, I'm sure he can.

Of course, Anne Howard (Kim II) has left. They still don't know if Patsy
Pease will be back in the role, but her baby isn't due until this month
which means the earliest she could be back on the air is early to mid-
October and more likely at least a month later.

Stephen Nichols (Steve) IS leaving. His last show should air sometime in
October. He will be killed off, but supposedly the body won't be found. I
have some more explicit spoilers, but I'll post them separately next week.
Steve has been doing some of his best work ever on the show recently. In
particular his scenes with Matthew Ashford (Jack) and Peter Reckell (Bo)
have been wonderful. And the scene with Charles Shaunessey (Shane) on
Monday was great. Too bad the writers had to wait until he's practically
walking out the door to can the bluster and give him the quiet, gently
humorous scenes he's so good at.

Lorenzo Caccialanza (Nico) has been signed to do Knots Landing. However,
he's only doing three episodes (which actually should have already been
filmed), so he probably won't be leaving Days -- at least until the
episodes air and the phone calls from producers start flooding in.
Humorous note: his character on Knots is named Nick.

Judi Evans (Adrienne) had informed Days that she wasn't renewing her
contract when it comes up in November (which would have meant a December
departure from Salem). However, Al Rabin seems to be determined to convince
her to stay. He's offering lots of time off to do other projects and
possibly some degree of storyline control for her character (she apparently
got as tired as we did of the last set of Justin and Adrienne doldrums).
She's reportedly waivering, but other issues figure in -- like her
currently bi-coastal marriage.

I wish the writers could do something more interesting than bring back an
old flame. But, since they are going to . .. .I doubt Frankie could be
a serious, long term threat to Jack and Jennifer, but, he will definitely
be a bump along the path to happiness (first young love memories and all).

Frankie and Jen were a nice couple, but, nothing that had staying power
(IMO). And, with all of Jennifer's maturing of late, (I don't just mean
sexually, either) it will be interesting to see how their chemistry has
changed.

This was the best scene of that entire day's show. I'm sorry to see him go.

These (what I call) "male bonding" (no offense intended here) that you are
referring to have all been top notch!!!! I love the scenes with Steve and
Jack -- especially when Steve calls him "Billy Jack." The scenes with Bo
are special, too. Most recently, just before Steve and Kayla got married,
they were at the riverfront and Bo was pretty down. Steve joked that he
was going to play "Here Comes the Bride" on his harmonica. The two of them
ended up sharing a laugh.

And, why haven't we seen more of Steve and Shane???? The scene at the
"Cheatin' Heart" where they were playing pool was wonderful!!!

All of these will be missed when he is gone!!!!!

The more I see of him, the more I WANT to see of him. A triangle of he,
Victor and Julie could be fun!!!

Thanks for all of the scoop, Melissa!!
