I remember reading a bit back about rumors of ST:TNG being cancelled. . .
Since the series is in syndication and doesn't depend on any single
network or station to keep the series alive. . .can't the series
theoretically continue for a very long time? Gene must be rolling in
it. . .where I live I don't even get cable. . and three of my five stations
carry the series. . .Star Trek has to be bringing in megabucks. . .

Paramount said at a convention last weekend that they have a six year contract
with the actors and STTNG is the third highest ranked syndicated show.
Therefore it will go at least a fourth year.
At the same convention Patrick Stewart hinted he might not last the full six
years.
