A new version of "Westfront PC: The Trials of Guilder" is available
for download for those interested. You may visit the Westfront PC
homepage at the following link:
http://www.geocities.com/dunric/westfront.html
There are currently two versions available for download: Version 18.00
for Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP and Version 7.80 for MS-DOS 3.3 and
above.
Also, I am looking for programming experts who are interested in
porting this game to other platforms. For information on the Westfront
PC Translation Project, please visit:

A version for TADS could be designed and ported to a myriad of
different platforms by an experienced TADS programmer.
Thank you for your time :)

For those interested, I have chronicled these versions for individuals
who wish to play Westfront PC on older computers, such as those
running Windows 95 and 3.x. The MS-DOS versions will also function on
computers running MS-DOS 3.3 and above. An IBM PC-AT compatible
computer with at least 4.77 mhz is recommended.

Although the author would have to answer you directly, this raises the
general question of porting from (name a variety of ) BASIC to TADS or
Inform. I think that ought to be doable, although long, long stretches of
procedural tads/inform would look strange. (I omit discussion of graphical
BASICS....)
Such a thing would allow porting of the EAMON series....!
No, I am not volunteering.

Two words: Floating point. All varieties of BASIC I'm familiar with
have it. Implementing in Inform sucks intensely.

Apple Integer Basic does not (hence the name).

I admit substantive defeat in the face of the dreaded floating-point. But
it could be done with a floating-point library, I would think, although we
are now talking about lots of work, little reward. (I actually embarked on
that quixotic quest in TADS a number of years ago and predictably did not
complete it.)
However, IF in BASIC doesn't always make use of floating point, so there
could be hope in some cases. Hope, but not much purpose.
