Ya know, this entire season has had 2 plots running through it: Lex's plot
to regain Brainiac and become the "god" he so wants to be, and his struggle
with Grodd over control of the society. It was also fun to see Lex take a
page from Dr. Doom's book and realize that science isn't all that there is
and that if there's something like magic out there, he'd want to control it.
It was fun seeing all the villains fight each other, especially the way
Toyman was just plain owning Killer Frost with the yo-yo. And when Metron
entered the scene, you just KNEW something big was going to go down. Now,
I'm a huge fan of all things Superman, but I never got to see the episode
where Darkseid apparently met his demise, but damn, that was GREAT to see
him again and totally in character. It was also neat to see Darkseid's
minions back on Apokalips seem genuinely reverent to him, something that's
carried over from the STAS Legacy episodes. I can't wait for ep 13, and wish
this wasn't a finale, but man, it's going to be a good one!

Of course, the bat-embargo works out here since the Batman villians
need to survive for Batman Beyond. ;)
It's pretty easy to justify their survival.

What? You thought Grodd's last words should have been "Argh, you've killed
me with your superior villainy"? Of course he'd going to be defiant.
Possibly my irony gland misfiring, but; "Like who?"
The only villains we ever saw alive in the future were Talia and Mr Freeze.
The rest were talked about but never seen.
Harley Quinn?

The ones that I can think of offhand are Harley Quinn, Bane, Talia, Mr.
Freeze, Ra's Al Ghul (he needs to survive up until 2009 or so they said
in the series), and the Joker. The Joker needs to survive long enough
for the "present day" parts of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker to
take place (which has to take place AFTER the current season of JLU, as
Batman doesn't walk with a limp yet and the implication in the uncut
version of RotJ is that the battle with the Joker is when he get his
leg injury).
I stand corrected, I'd forgotten that Harley was in ROTJ, and I'm not sure I
saw an episode with Bane.. Curse the lousy UK distribution of the series...
Good catch on Ra's too.

Nice reasoning, though we know that must be due fairly soon, since Nightwing
is in Bludhaven, and he'd moved out of Gotham some time before the
flashback.
Unless, could the Nightwing we seen be Dick prior to his return to Gotham in
the first place, which would explain the absence of the Tim Drake Robin, he
hasn't shown up yet.
My head hurts....
>Hell, it was even implied Grodd would somehow survive being blasted

Not space, Hyperspace (or what ever a Hyperdrive reconfigured
from a gorilla-tech cloaking field travels through)

and a Brainiac for the future to set up the events in New Kids in Town
and to conquer Colu or whatever to set up the future for the Dox family
and Brainiac 5 (as well as 1-4)
