DRAGONBALL Z question

Hi Dragonball Z fans !
I am currently following the series in France.(some of the Z warriors
have magnificient frence voices d.i. Goku,Vejeita)
- I read somewhere that Goku got killed by Cell and couldn't be
brought back to life ?
Why is this ??
Did he get killed by Cell ??
Really a Dragonball Z without Goku seems pretty pointless to me
at the moment....
Can somebody clarify this for me ?
Any help is appreciated!!

Yes, Goku is dead. In fact, the author is starting a new serie
with Gohan as the lead character.

I think it's because Goku has died too many times ...

Yes, but indirectly. Goku cannot escape when Cell explodes.

will be worth watching. Besides, what's next? Dragonball ZZ? End it the
way it is ...
Personal opinion: DBZ's popularity will fade without Goku, Trunks and
Piccolo. Guess we'll see.

I'm expecting to see follow ups like these...
Dragonball ZZ, New Dragonball, Dragonball 0080, Dragonball F91, and Dragonball 0083, etc.
:P. Well, actually, I think the series is kind of getting boring since it got to the "Z", no real plot just Goku getting stronger
he "Z". Seems like Goku gets STRONGER every episode and can actually destroy a
small planet or two... Just think about it... A guy who can destroy a planet...
I don't think it will be fun to watch something like that...
I will just be content watching the original "Dragonball":)
