Hi all, Hi Jesse Bickmore!

I stumbled over "Rapid Evolution" months ago - its a really mighty piece of Software!
Today i wanted to have a look at the newest Version but www.mixshare.com is down.
And the last binaries are outdated (20.11.2013).

Is this "the end" of Rapid Evolution or is it still in "active" development?

Regards,
Ali

It is unfortunately the end of the mixshare.com website, but all Rapid Evolution source code is in github now and able to continue development (if there's willing developers!).  There's always a chance I will get involved in the code again, but at the moment I've been pursuing other things in my life.

I still use RE2/3 (actually use RE2 more now as it seems easier to use for me), over 10 years now. I haven't found another app that handles "live" in-mixset cataloging the way it does, particularly the mixout comments and ratings.

It's the only reason why I still keep my DJ-ing Mac stuck on Mavericks, as I've had trouble installing it on newer macOSes (see my separate post on this, pleading for help!).

I've always told myself to learn coding so I can take the source and have a go at updating it, but like Jessie, life always seems to get in the way lol.

A massive tip of the hat to you anyway, Jessie, for coming up with this fantastic application that's been the cornerstone of my DJ-ing workflow for over a decade now.

Hey, thanks for the shout out!

Yah, I'm pretty sad at what happened to mixshare.com (If I could go back in time...), but happy that I was at least able to throw the source code up on the web :-)

I hope it's helping to create some great music/mixes!!

Without a doubt!

Just wish I could update my machine past Mavericks lol; if you or any other users have any idea on how to get RE3 to install on newer macOSes, I'm dying to know!

Cheers,
Shazz

Hi!

Sadly it's not in developement.
The good news: The latest RE3 is working for me on Windows 10, Java 8u161. I had to manually install both 64bit and 32bit Java.

Hey Jesse,

This is DJ KMS - I designed the Serato skin for RE2 way back in the day.  I took a long break from DJ'n and just recently came back.  Sad to see this is no longer in development but I understand life is important!  A wife and 2 little girls since we last talked for me!  Anyways I downloaded and installed RE3 and just have a couple quick questions if you dont mind answering them.   The skin itself, how do I change the color from the light gray to a darker gray like Serato?  I see we can adjust the color in the .properties file but that appears to be the color of song selection only, not the overall color of the program itself.  Also, when selecting a song, is there a way to just show the selected styles in the compatible tab and not every style in the library?  Lastly is there a setting to auto add mixout by double clicking a track instead of right clicking add mixout?

Hope all is well brother!

Hey there!  I also have wife+2 girls, what are the odds!

Unfortunately, I never go to adding extensive UI customization in RE3, and one bad choice I mad was to utilize Qt toolkit, which was deprecated.

If I were to do it again, I'd redo the UI of RE3 but keep the underlying data/audio analysis code which is solid.  There's even a secret web UI already there under the covers.

But unless you're a coder, sticking with RE2 might be best.

Good luck!
-Jesse
