I went to pick up my Clem L frame and Leah Belle Shamalama Ding Dong asked me to take a bunch of pics and I did and you can see them, too. The Gus bikes are awesome, fat tires are fun!

Thanks for sharing the pics Joe. Always fun to see what's inside the Riv tent. Have fun building your Clem!

Joe, thanks for sharing the pics. See/hear any sign of this new linear pull brake GP has mentioned?

I love those threadless bullmoosey looking bars!

I didn't see any new brakes. Grant mentioned a fancier Cheviot down the road, which Will explained as "more rad" 😁

Those bars are a prototype Bosco Bullmoose with a bit less reach-back and more flared. It's spectacular and I want one on my upcoming custom. If they don't produce the bar I'm going to try to make Grant sell me the prototype!

Oh, it's threadless! I didn't notice that, it's on a threaded Wolbis. Shoot, I want a quill version.

nice pics (and intel), thanks for sharing!  but ayiyi i wonder how long "down the road" is...  been eyeing a cheviot for my better half, but maybe it makes sense to wait.

I was thinking the exact same thing! Maybe Fairweather's?

What size are the XR2s on the Gus? I can’t make out the size on the sidewall.

Ahh, for some reason I thought Gus was a 29er.

Tire size: I don't know but the biggest Riv offers on the site is 27.5 x 2.35, which sounds about right. They were big!

I can't speak to the photos specifically as to the diameter or width, but the production-to-be Gus/Susie in Large and XL are 29ers, small/medium are 27.5. Max tire 2.8 for all.  The prototype large may be 27.5, at least Deacon Patrick's was. That's common for some of Riv's prototypes, the Bomba was the same way. The email photo of the Susie had XR2 29x2.6. Trek website lists it as 29 x 2.6 or 3.0 and 27.5 x 2.6/2.8.

I don't suspect Riv would stock and sell 2.6 or 2.8 tires until the frame is ready to be sold. I asked Vince about the possible new rim for wide tires and he told me the "hang up" was literally just that, overly tight fitting tires on tubeless rims. The mfr. they're working with believes they have a way to make it easier yet still remain tubeless compatible, which apparently isn't negotiable with the mfr. for obvious reasons.

I suspect the one piece bar/stem on the Susie in Joe's photo if offered for sale would be threadless only. It would go directly on a Gus of course, use a quill adapter for the Susie. That way they don't have to stock 2 types. Quill adapters are fine, I use them on 2 bikes. They're great as you have a whole lot more choice of stems, and the Gus/Susie really needs a 4 bolt mtb stem anyways.

Yep, Garth has it all nailed. I haven't kept up on all the Gus stuff so I made a random guess based on I thought they were all 650B. I know nothing!

It looks like the Gus and the Susie have different forks.

Yes, Gus uses the tandem's fork crown, Susie has to my eye what looks like a non-lugged version of the Appaloosa.
