Thought I'd combine two recent threads with this photo. It's part of my 3-photo Flickr set of my Atlantis repainted red. Jay Ritchey did the really cool thing and set me up with the nicer headbadge that you see in the photo. It looks very good with the red:

Contest: can anyone see what is "wrong" with the bike? Hint: it does not interfere with its operation.

Great looking bike, but no dang fenders!  Don't you think it would look even nicer with a set of Bertouds on there?  And what made you opt for V brakes?

Michael,

It's got vestigial cable hangers Front and Rear.

Correct! I just kind of like them.

Very pretty! World's first red Atlantis? I don't know if I would choose Red for a Riv (nothing against red, but I like their greens and blues too much) but it *is* pretty. And I like the bar-to-saddle setup.

Paselas? For shame! Get some *nice* tires for that nice bike!

Thank you for the compliment and advice, but hold up on the tire advice; those are not Paselas. Those are Jack Browns, and ain't no one gonna talk me out of my favorite tire - Jack Brown. Blue or Green, both great, green greater.

As for the "first red Atlantis" question: No, not the first, not by a longshot. A year ago, I decided to get a repaint from the stock color to red. (It was due for one at 10 years old.) The reason I chose red was from having seen some other red ones out there on the Flickr.

Aha! A different story entirely. JB Greens are very nice; haven't tried the Blues.

So, not the first, but still very nice. If I could have three Rivs and choose the colors, mine would be, in order of preference: Light blue, sage green and that red.

Beautiful, and great with the fenders (not to mention the level front rack, unlike mine.)

Is that your wife's?

Yes it is. I'm searching for a 68cm Atlantis but no luck so far.

Yours looks great..... I didn't notice the front rack till you said something.
