RBW-style riding scene in Chicago?

I am moving to Chicago in two weeks, and I want to explore the cycling scene there. Will rent first, maybe in 'burbs near O'Hare airport. Eventually may buy a place in a city neighborhood north/northwest of downtown. Anyone on this list know of good trails, shops, cycling resources, kindred spirits, etc., in Chicagoland, especially those things in the general spirit of the type of riding embraced by this group? Thanks!

I am in Chicago a couple of times a year, but don't get into any group things there.  There is a network of lanes, paths and routes around the area and I have sighted a few Riv's riding by me.  Lot's of commuting goes on, especially using the lakeshore trail.  Checkout The Chainlink to see what is going on in the area.
