Tandem Transport?

I have a nice tandem I want to take to Vt this summer. I have a
medium size SUV (Honda Pilot) but with all my other stuff, there's not
enough room in the car for the bike. I don't want to put it on the
rear rack because that's got all the regular bikes which leaves the
roof. Does anyone have a recommendation for a roof rack for a tandem?

Kinda off-topic (sadly riv doesn't make a tandem :()

but thule and yakima make a tandem-specific roof rack component.

we have one - it is giant - and somewhat expensive but it works well.

I use the Thule tandem attachment. It works fine, although a bit pricey. They pop up used on CL occasionally

I used an Atoc tandem roof rack with the side brace to cart my Surly Big Dummy on the roof of my car. It worked well. Even if you go with the Thule rack (which is the Atoc rack with a different sticker)  I'd recommend tracking down an Atoc "side brace" to stabilize the bike... especially if you plan to drive on  dirt roads.

Doesn't make one.... YET!   Grant will, eventually, methinks...  


Just bummed my other half kinda gave up on riding... I'm enthralled w/ the idea of a Riv tandem, but, would be kinda under-utilized for me.. :(
