Is that a Mavic "Starfish" crank on it? Looks to be a mid to late 90s
Riv. Possibly a Long and Low?

They should all look like that! Beautiful.

...and he forgot to get his cable lock around the frame.  That's a little risky.

I'm also a fan of the dark headtube aesthetic.

Probably doing the "lock the wheel in the rear triangle trick."  If I had space in my lock, I'd def. incl. the frame.

What's with the clamp on the seat post?  and the dowel under the saddle?

Looks like an early Road not a Long-Low. The LL had cantis and the geometry looks steeper on this one, but camera angles can be very deceiving (Jan Heine wrote up a good demonstration of this).

It's also got pretty classic mid-90s components straight out of the Riv catalog ca 1995- Simplex rear derailleur, Mavic starfish crank, Nitto stem, M-bars, Carradice (Camper, probably). The black (?) head tube is unique, I have not seen that combination before.

I like seeing a high quality bike treated like a bike and not like a museum piece.

it looks like the same paint combo as the bike which was stolen and then listed on ebay had.  I think it's like a blue/green headtube.  I vastly prefer the cream tubes myself!

Yea, I was going to say - "I could have that bike in 5 hacksaw strokes."

No "and" in LongLow... ;^)

Here's a stellar example of one, for comparison:
