I hate bouncy fenders out front, and they never stay centered. When I added a pair to my QB, I added a short fender strut to the front edge. Nice and solid now. I'm adding a Paul Flatbed soon, and there just might be room for everything as is. Pics will prove that. FYI - those are Schwalbe Marathon XR 40s on MA2 rims.

Nice. What's the hardware?

If the strut and rack won't play together, you could always mount the fender directly to the rack...

Looks great.  That's one of the reasons I abandoned plastic fenders.

Hardware was left over from a a set of VO Zeppelin's I believe, or at least the strut was. It's aluminum in any case. The fitting might be a Honjo - the type where the strut passes through a hole, rather that the type where it fits into a slot.

You have plenty of fender/tire clearance so this would not be an issue for you, but this eliminates the 'safety' quick release feature of the SKS front fenders, correct?

This is a great idea for those who do not have a nitto mini front to secure the fender.

The quick release will still do its thing - its only the rear of the fender that would need to free itself. (I think) I actually had a mini up there, and the hole the fender just had to have something in it. If I ever put the mini back on, I'm all set.
