Hello All --

I have here a Nitto Front Rack traded from another list member.  The label says "Campee Front."

http://www.flickr.com/photos/theginz/sets/72157631297702770/

Based on these photos where I'm trying to mount it on a 26" Hunqapillar fork does it seem likely that this rack was made for a 700c fork? Or worse...a fork with sidepulls?

That's a 2.35 Big Apple and there is 1.75" of clearance above it.

The rack is so tight against the brake arms (Shimano CX70) I cannot even open the brake to get the wheel out.

Thanks for any advice and if anyone wants to trade a 26" version for this one...do let me know!! Ugh!

Ginz. I have one of these, this is the older version with less flexibility. You could try and sell it for the newer version with more adjustability, or you could spend some time at the hardware store to make it work.

What you need is a small metal bracket/strip with two holes to space it farther out. Tis may cause the top to tilt forward a little bit.

When I got my front rack the previous person tossed these in as he had the same problem. On my bike I have the ird cafam cantis and they are pretty thin in thickness, so I can get away with not using the extensions, but its a really tight fit. I can still open them up to remove the wheel but there's not much worki g room.

I'm not home at the moment, but I can send pics if you need to see something. Personally I would just browse the aisles at the hardware store for the right bits to make it work.

Thanks, Minh. This is what I figured. Pics of your bracket would be
very helpful. Also, I'm curious to see where your band clamps ended
up.

This may not be the cheapest solution, but will save me some time. I
think it should work!

I agree those parts look nice and I hope your time is worth more than what those parts cost.  :)

Think of it this way, if it was me, I'd be thinking "Now I just need another 700c bike to fit this rack!"  My way would have been a far more expensive solution, so you are thousands of dollars ahead of the game with those clever bits

But, Bill, your way would have served the Rule of N + 1
