It took several months of waiting, but my dynamo wheelset has finally come together.  Velocity has offered their Deep V rims with a retro-reflective powder coat, that they call Halo.  I emailed Velocity and asked them if they'd sell me a set of 650B rims with that same coating.  They agreed to throw a couple rims into the next batch for me.  They finally arrived at Riv last week, and I built them up this weekend.  The idea is that for night riding I'll have yet another reflective surface.  I took a few flash and no-flash photos to try to capture what they'll do.  The rims are dark grey in normal light and bright white at night in headlights.

There are other photos of the parts in my flickr.  Now I have something that makes me look forward to the shorter days.

Looking good. I keep trying to take mine off but even with longer days they come in handy. Got two hours of night riding in tonight..

You are going to love those wheels!

There used to be reflective stickers you could put on your rims, back in the 80's I did that and it seemed ok.
This reflective paint is the way of the future.
A year ago I was talking with a fellow SF randonneur about reflective paint for an entire bike.
I hope this is the start of that.
I would do this in a heartbeat for my bike, my wifes bike, and my sons bike.
We live in the city and ride day and night, every day of the year.
Good job with the wheels, well thought out!

Thanks Kelly

I put on some Pari Motos last night and I'll rout the wiring today.

What lights did you go with?

Ok now I have to go read. Didn't know a 3 watt was out there.

Ok so there was only one Edelux using three watt bulbs and qevidently many are stamped with 2.4 watt.
All three of mine are marked 2.4.

Doesn't matter I love them. Even sold an e3 triple for just enough to buy another one. Love that light.

Yeah, I think you go 2.4W on the front to keep room for the 0.6W taillight.  I decided that integrating the rear light into the dynamo system was/is unnecessary/redundant for me.  I can and during dark brevets do run dual battery powered blinkies on the seatstays, another tiny one on the seattube, and another tiny one on my helmet.  Add to that the safety triangle and my reflective clothing and I'm already lit up like a very very unfashionable Christmas tree.  The point of the dynamo was road illumination and maybe gadget charging.  Another wire running the length of the bike would get mangled the way I end up using it.  Maybe if I had a nice internal wiring custom, I'd go that route.  Someday.
