Hey all: I have a very nice condition Supernova Airstream headlight. Used it in the summer on my city bike. Currently it is sitting on the shelf doing nothing owing to a new build with Dynohub and Edelux (which in turn will be replaced by a Luxos U soon enough).

Rechargeable batteries go bad when not used regularly. Much as I like the quality of the light and it's beautiful appearance, I hate to think of it slowly going to pot with nothing to do.

I will be in the Bay area the 20th through the 26th. Perhaps there is a nice bike oriented help group that could use a nice light for one of their projects? Or, just as well, maybe one of you know a bike only local in need of a good quality light but without the finances to get one?

RBW listers tend to be a pretty fair bunch. I don't want to give it to someone who otherwise could afford it. Definitely would be fun to get it to someone. In need.

Thanks.

As much as I would love the chance of a free dynohub and wheel I don't deserve one. I do know a non-profit community bike  shop that takes donated gear. Changing Gears on the Alameda base is an amazing place where they give underprivileged youth the opportunity of getting job experience while working on bikes! They also have the opportunity of earning a bike for themselves if they accumulate enough hours. It's a great little shop ran by great people.
A website of them proves that they exist:
If you plan to donate your gear tell'em Manny sent ya.

Here is another place that would probably be happy to see the dyno

I work with StreetLevel Cycles in Berkeley as a volunteer mentor. From what I see there, donations of fancier things aren't used for project bikes the kids build but either sold at a low price or simply not recognized as having real value.
It sometimes makes more sense to sell such things on a list like this and then donate the proceeds to the bike organization. Or ask the buyer to give you a check made out to the organization.
They will buy cables & housing, tires & tubes, cassettes, chains and other replaceable parts that donated bikes need for reconditioning after being left out in the weather.

My 20 cents,
David
