I gotta say, I'm excited for Little Ben and looking forward to putting a set of those on my LHT. Anyone seen these yet?

A 55 in 650b would be a good road and trail option for Bombadil owners. They look good, well not pretty like cream hetres but a good beefier choice.

No 650B is a 'killer bummer' as they say.  But I do have a mondo clearance 26" bike that these would look great on.

If you want a 650b equivalent, I highly recommend the Conti Tour Ride
650b-54 that Riv has at a good price:
http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/t54.htm

I have a set on my Bomba and I'm very pleased. They roll well, are
quiet, and very cushy, and they are plenty sturdy. Enough tread for
trail riding too. They don't accelerate very fast at 800g each, but
that isn't what I bought them for. I'd buy another pair but it will
take a long time to wear them out. They say 54 but they measure 50 on
my digital calipers at 45 psi. I'm happier with these than I was with
Big Apple 50's, which always seemed a bit sluggish to me.

they also make  700c x 50 and 55mm tires too.  I saw these on the Schwalbe site a while a go... looks like a great tire in the 40mm size for me.

I wonder what the actual measurement will be. Schwalbe is terrible with their sizing accuracy.

True. Hopefully RBW will post the actual measurements of each tire. I'll bet Lil Ben runs somewhere around 37-38mm which is fine with me. I'm curious what the 50mm Big Ben will run and I if I'll be able to fit those on my LHT.

They look nice, and a set of 700x40 might get on one of the bikes next year.  Right now, the SimpleOne has the Duremes and have no interest in changing them out. Anyway, that bike is inside for the winter. No reason to experiment with tires now.

Yes, they're real good at posting actual width. Shame the manufacturer couldn't do the same! A true 40mm tire would be pretty nice!

Riv  site has a photo up of the Big Ben in 55mm size, shows it measures 52.5mm. I'll be the the 50 measures around 47-48.  The 50 mm Durene measures about that.  http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/tben.htm

The come stock on a new bike (Xtracycle Edgerunner) we have at the shop where I work and they are awesome--big and puffy but no extraneous tread so they roll well too.  Before I saw them one of our suppliers had described them to me as "beefier Big Apples" and that seems to be spot on--a similar big slick but with slightly more tread thickness and beefier sidewalls than the BA, so hopefully closer to the Marathon models in durability.

Should note the ones I've ridden are the Big Ben in 26" and 20" size, not the 700c "Little Ben"

The actual width can vary considerably with the width of the rim. The
550X1.35s (34+) on narrow Sun M14 rims measure 32; 622X35s on 27 mm
Sun Rhyno Lites measure 35; 60mm BA Liteskins on SnoCat SLs measure
61. 622X55 Weirwolfs on ditto measure the same 61.

The close up of the tread looks like Hunqa grey.  The profile bike is one of the prototype Rosco Bubbe, Bosco Rubbe.

Riv is also good at mentioning what rim width was used for the measurement.  That makes a difference.  On my Mavic A-719 rims, Schwalbe's 40 mm Marathon Supreme measures 40 mm, while the 50 mm measures 46 mm.  I currently have a 45 mm Marathon Plus that measures 44 mm.  All at 60 psi.

Little ben in a 650b would be nice.
I also hope the new, lighter Marathon Deluxe comes out in a 650b.

Have you actually tried a Hetre?

Not yet.
I have been thinking about getting them for long rides. Maybe that will convince me. I know I will enjoy the speed of them.

I am not saying I don't believe what everyone is saying about them being an almost punctureless tire. I just have to expand my comfort level I guess.

Since it is just plain rubber, what's to stop glass from getting through? I guess that is my concern.

There is no such thing as a "punctureless" tire, why ride around on some belted, heavy tires unless you have to though? I think alot of that market is people who think they "have to" ride those tires or else. If you are in goathead counrty is one thing but for most of a flat every now and then isnt the end of the world. It really shouldnt take you more than 5 minutes to change one out anyway.  I rode 23s for a long time and the Hetres are almost as "fast" as them, to be honest and are way way more comfortable. Jan has written extensively on this topic, good reading if you have time over xmas.

I was close to buying a set of 40 mm Duremes for my AHH but will await
the Little Big Ben. I wonder about the difference between the two tire
types, aside from cost.
