Hi All,

The crankset on my beater broke.  Does anybody in Oakland or Berkeley have a crankset they would like to give me or trade for a coffee?  I tried to attach a photo of what I have but Google isn't having it today.  I'll try to update after I successfully post. If you have something and you want me to send pictures, let me know.

I'm tall, so is the vintage Fuji frame.  If one of you has a beater crankset taking space in your parts box that'll keep me from taking $100 out of my Rivendell savings fund I'll be grateful!

Thanks!

Jared

Also, should anyone have a 61cm Atlantis frame or complete bike they would like to trade for coffee, let me know. I am in the Philly area.

Very funny!  FYI, I'm looking for a beater crankset. Something taking up space that you could bring yourself to get rid of for nothing or next to nothing. Not a multi-thousand dollar bike.  ;)

Jared I would highly recommend Changing Gears. Their a non-profit shop located on the old Alameda Army Base. They have a bunch of used bike parts for super cheap. In fact thats were I got my new bike.
Website proved that they are amazing.

All smart-allec-ing aside, I have a mtb triple, black, 175mm arms that you can have for the cost of shipping. Let me know.

You could also try Street Level Cycles, a part of the Waterside Workshops in Berkeley. This shop is open to the public on Friday - Saturday - Sunday from noon to 6:00 PM.

There are tons of used parts including cranksets, single crank arms, chainrings and bottom brackets. All have been donated or removed from donated bicycles and are resold for low prices to help fund the operation of the shop and school which teaches kids to work on bikes. I've given them some cranksets along with other parts.

There are six bike stands where anyone can work on their bicycle with public tools.
Its an interesting place and a good resource. Might be closer to you than Alameda.

"Waterside Workshops is located at 84 Bolivar Drive on the north end of Berkeley's Aquatic Park. There are two main streets that connect with Bolivar: Addison and Bancroft. ... Take Bancroft all the way west, over the train tracks, and take a right when Bancroft terminates at Bolivar, Waterside Workshops is the complex of maroon colored buildings on the water's edge, ~100 yards north of the Bancroft/Bolivar intersection."
(Or, come south from Addison. Addison is the street which connects to the ped/bike bridge over I-80.)

(You'll find me volunteering there on some Fridays, trying to mentor people away from destroying their bike components!)
