Hey there Clyde - _Pretty_ sure it was a 110 Shimano.

When Google Groups had the old format, I had aggregated a page with bb lengths for various models, according to some of the group members. It was here - http://groups.google.com/group/rbw-owners-bunch/web/bb-spindle-lengths - but it seems to have evaporated. Internet Wayback Machine says that's a non-crawlable page... ooh that wacky internet. I _may_ have archived that info, but it will take a bit to track down.

There have been a few threads in this (newer) group format, so you might also just search topics here too.

110 - 115 is pretty much the going range for Sugino cranks.

The Tange and Shimano BB's can be a bit odd in sizing. Study the specs carefully. You'll notice a 107 and a 110 have the same drive side length !

Shimano 110 came out when I switched to Campy 110 because I wanted smaller Q cranks and I only used the big ring. The chain line is fine when I run her fixed.

Hi Clyde,

I can confirm that Jim's correct. My early version (green) Quickbeam
came with a Sugino XD2R crank mounted on a Shimano BB-UN53 bottom
bracket with a 110mm width.

After confirming I have a 110 BB I ordered the gaurd and the 74/ 32 ring that was missing from my QB's crank. I intend to run a 16t freewheel on one side and a 15t fixed cog on the other side of a fixed/ free flip flop hub. This should give me a nice cruising gear in fixed and the 16 Fw has just barely enough runout on the dropouts (track ends) to be able to

change rings. It looks like the axle will be darn close to the very end of the slots when on the 32 ring (yes, no?).

I have another fixed/ fixed wheel that I'll have a 16t, 15t. Maybe look into getting some dingle cogs for a wider fixed range.

BTW, how does the inner 32 ring do riding fixed with the not perfect chain line? Also If I want the 8t range of the slot with the 15 tooth would I need to take a link of chain out and add back a 1/2 link? Simplicity can get confusing.

I rode the 32/15 fixed with the axle right in the teeth of the dropout, and it was fine, "off" chainline and all. I'm a giant fan of the Surly Dingle cog for maximizing gear difference and minimizing axle movement. That cleans up any theoretical chainline issues, too, but you might start to obsess over not moving the axle at all on gear changes, as I do...
