List member and fellow 65cm Homer owner Dennis was kind enough to give me a ride to the western reaches of the Portland Oregon suburbs for the annual Oregon Randonneurs Verboort Sausage Populaire 110k. The trio that I was riding with finished in the coveted position of 3-way tie for last. We had been leap frogging with Dennis for much of the ride but he passed us at about the 80km mark and we didn't see him again until we were getting our cards signed at the finish.

Not really any stand-out stories from the ride but it was a great way to spend the day.

Andy,
This is just a stunny set of photos. Is the populaire almost exclusively dedicated bike path?

Just beautiful.

Call this ride "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground," and get the White Stripes to get back together for an end-of-ride concert.

Dude, glad you got to do that ride. Great images. Like practically
every other randonneuring event this year, it happened on a day I was
scheduled to work. I've ridden that route and it's great, much better
than the one they used in years past. I would have loved to have seen
more pictures of that Hillborne.

Any chance you'll be able to do any brevets next spring? I've been
entertaining thoughts of sitting out randonneuring next year but that
probably won't happen...

Let's ride soon.

Seth -- the MUP was about 21 of the 68 miles.

Mayfly -- They make several tons of sausage for the festival and apparently they sell out every year.

Mike -- I've got 200k in the back of my mind. Already looking at the 2013 schedule.

Eric -- yes... more end of ride rock shows.

Dennis -- pics came through loud and clear. Thanks.

Charlie -- There's another 100k in March... come on down.

Russ and Laura from Path Less Pedaled were on the ride too. It was their first Randonneuring event. They did a write up on their site with more pics: http://pathlesspedaled.com/blog/

Cheers to all,
Andy

Here is my own photo-take on the ride - what Andy didn't mention was that when I picked him up he said another rider was going to follow us. It was Tommy who I met when he and Manny were doing the coast tour last August. I was in California and stopped in Tomales Bay at Hog Island Oysters on my way back to OR and there were Tommy & Manny. Small world !!!

(Hope this works as it is my first effort)
That last pic shows a third bike behind the others, that looks as though it might also be a Riv. Is it?   Also, you guys forgot to mention all the babes on the ride. Keeping them all for yourselves??

Glad that Tom is being taken care of in Portland. Looks like a great ride with great company. Pictures look amazing too. On a side note the ladyfriend and I might head up there for the New Years.
Look for a care package from Cal soon...

Dennis - Was meaning to sent this to you when we met in the summer.

Reid -- that 3rd bike is Dennis' AHH. Coincidentally it's the same size (65cm) and from the same batch as mine. He opted for beautiful green paint while I opted for the under tube. And as far as the babes... just cause it's a sausage festival doesn't mean it's a sausage fest.

Manny -- Tommy has been a welcome addition to PDX life. Did I read that correctly... you're sending me a care package? Awesome! Can't wait to see what it is. New Years... sounds like a good time.

Lynne,
 +1.
I do not think it was appropriate, either.
