Good weekend of riding.
No real long mileage but the quality of riding was amazing.
Sean took me on a short ride around "Rivendell country". Showed me the "Jay Turn" the legendary turn that involved a creek crossing and a good amount climbing over ruts and gravel all on a hairpin turn. The story goes that only Jay was able to ride the turn and the gravel without putting the foot down. We took turns but couldn't make the creek crossing ended up walking the rest up.The literal high point of the ride got us bunny hopping over every little jump that we could ride. One hop before a hairpin turn didn't end as fantastic as I thought. After making the jump the excess weight on the tip of the saddle dropped me on the top tube and sent me flying over my handlebars. The result was only a couple a scrapes and a sore back. The rest of the ride was us taking creek crossing as fast as we can. All good fun when your feet are drenched at the end of the ride.

Pictures proved that amazing things happen when you cross creeks:

Manny

Make sure to keep riding the next couple months so we can do the SFR Lighthouse 200 in January.  Rain or shine!

Agreed. We still need to add an overnight trip soon.

How'd those trails get there? What's their purpose? Are they only used for cycling?
We don't have trails like that in MD that I know of. Looks like lotsa fun.

And, what's a "Bike Panda"?

The problem with you and I trying to do an S24O is that you go on them with 45minutes notice, while I have to plan them months in advance to clear with wife and kids.

Here's a fairly succinct definition and history of the bike panda

They are ancient footpaths of the dwarves who once used the volcanic
fires of Mt. Diablo to forge non-oversize chrome moly steel tubes.

Actually they are trails in Mt Diablo State Park, intended for hikers,
walkers, and horses that leave stinky piles of dung. That particular
trail is one of the few bits of single track that is legal for bikes.
Most of the single track is off limits to bikes. Some of the trail
work was done by the East Bay Bicycle Trails Council.
