Greetings. I've been riding this Hunqapillar for a couple of months now. What a great great bike.

It handles so well with a load, even bumping down gnarly Bolinas Ridge trail. It's also among the best off-roaders I've has the pleasure to ride. Excellent work, Grant! Thank you!

Anyway, this is the way it looked during a recent S48O, which included the afore-mentioned trail.
It's fated to get the bars switched to Albatross (when they're back in stock), though I do like these Ahearne/MAP bars. I just have a feeling the Albas are more what the frame calls for. We'll see.

Hi Brian,

Congrats on your new(+2 mths) Hunqapillar!  Great pic!

I recently got my Hunqapillar, too, and love riding it, though on far more civilized roads(black top and other smooth paved) than you've been.

The Albatross bar's a great bar.  My wife has one on her Betty Foy and loves it.  Another bar consideration would be the Bullmoose bar, which seems ideal for the likes of the Hunqapillar and the Bombadil.  I have one on my Hunq, and I love it.  It's a beautiful bar, and I love how the sweepback places the grips at such a natural angle.  My hands and wrists really appreciate it.  Handling with the Bullmoose bar is superb.  I can only imagine how awesome it would be for navigating down rough trails like Bolinas Ridge.

Here's a poor photo of my setup: My Hunqapillar cockpit  (The grips are Brooks Slender Grips)

Enjoy your Hunq!

You guys are killing me with the Hunqapillar pics. What a gorgeous bike! Diggin' the "RBW" decal on the seat-tube. I've been wanting Riv to do that for a long time. It goes a way towards tying what appear to most eyes to be bikes from different companies together under one brand. That's a convoluted sentence, isn't it? Put another way, a non-Rivvy-type person seeing an Atlantis sail by thinks it's made by "Atlantis". The Hunqapillar is more clearly a "Rivendell Hunqapillar". Better.

Hi Geoff. Nice Hunq!
I have been thinking a little bit about the Bullmoose. I agree that it
seems ideal for the Hunqapillar.
Some eyeballing has led me to believe my current position with the
Ahearne bar is very close to what I would get with a BM. Bullmoose
looks so nice though!

Hi Brian,

Thanks!  Apparently, we both have good taste in bikes.  LOL

Yeah, I really love the Bullmoose bar.  When I test rode the Hunq, they didn't have one in my size set up with the Bullmoose.  So, they had me test ride an Atlantis that had a Bullmoose.  I hadn't even made it to the end of their building, and I knew it was the right bar for me.  Loved the ergonomics, loved how the bike steered and handled with it, and loved the looks of that fillet brazed bar.

Your Ahearne bar's very cool looking, too.  I'd not seen one before your pic.

They *are* 700x50s. I don't think I would go a whole lot bigger than
that. 29x2.1s would probably fit. . . .
