I'm struggling to get my new large Saddlesack to play nice with my Nitto Big Back. The problem is that the tombstone on the rack holds the bag so far back that the loops on the top of the bag can't reach the loops on my saddle. Not by a LONG way. A new rack is not an option. Has anyone made this combo work, and if so what the secret sauce?

Thanks!

Can't help with that specific rack but with a saddle height of 90 cm my loops are a looooong way from my rack, so I use a Nitto Saddlebag Grip just to make up the distance. Works fine with my large SaddleSack. Before I got that I was using a zip tie looped loosely through the saddle rails then attaching the bag to that... not so pretty but does the job without any problems.

Shawn, I have a very lightly used Nitto Saddlebag Grip that I would be willing to sell at a price that would be attractive compared to new. But it's "like new."  http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/r13.htm

The Nitto Saddlebag Grip sold by Riv http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/r13.htm , in addition to its quite useful intended purpose of providing a quick release for a nice saddlebag you don’t want to leave on your bike, also moves a saddlebag back a couple of inches, which might allow you to clear the tombstone, depending on the dimensions of your particular bike.  It materially improved, but didn’t entirely eliminate, this problem with a Nigel Smythe Big Boxy Bag, similar in size to the larger Sackville Saddlesacks, mounted on a 56cm Bombadil.  Pic here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/4249456177/in/set-72157624552118742/

I have the same rack- bag combination and IMO the two do not work the best together. I simply live with the Saddlesack resting up against the tombstone. This cuts into the volume the bag, but it works. I have thought of switching to a rack that does not have this type of tombstone, like the Tubus Cosmo.
